June Arrives on Beyond the Gates
When June (Jasmine Burke) arrived on screen on Beyond the Gates, she was a real-life project for Jacob and Naomi Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges and Arielle Prepetit). June was homeless and living underneath a local underpass with limited belongings, including a Polaroid picture of two children, a boy and a girl.
Detective Jacob and his wife, Attorney Naomi, went above and beyond to help June find her way. Jacob and Naomi went what some Beyond the Gates fans are calling too far. It’s like Jacob and Naomi aren’t even that smart… Have they never heard of a CLOSED ADOPTION?

June was down and out and drugged up, but she had that picture of those two kids and lost her damn mind anytime it wasn’t in arm’s reach. Thanks to Jacob and Naomi, she always got it back… Until she ripped it up, but then she found HER kids, via Jacob and Naomi.
Did Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) and Smitty Smith (Mike Manning) NOT have a CLOSED ADOPTION?? Um, they did… Yet somehow their family, who should know better, opened up what was once a closed adoption into a can of worms that popped open without notice.
Almost as fast as June has turned her life around on a dime, Martin and Smitty opened their Brownstone up to have their children’s biological mother, who gave them up so many years ago and who just realised what she did. Now, June has met the teenagers she gave up as children, their adoptive parents, has a job at Orphy Gene’s, and a safe place to live. How??…
BTG’s Samantha Smith, Rebellious with Purpose… & LOVES June
Unlike Tyrell Smith (Jaden Lucas Miller), his sister Samantha Smith (Najah Jackson) got on board with June immediately. Samantha and June have a connection, whether it be motivated by Samantha’s teenage rebellion or love out of nowhere for her mother, whom she thought she would never meet, or maybe it’s some of both.
Now, with June’s newfound employment at the diner and a safe place to live, she all of a sudden has advice for Samantha and whoever else will listen when she is working at Orphy Gene’s.
This soap opera hasn’t even been on for one year… What just happened on Beyond the Gates?? What’s next for Miss June?? Perhaps it’s taking down that Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann Grant) a peg or two…
