GH Spoilers Tuesday: Sonny Corinthos Blindsides Ethan Lovett as Ric Lansing’s Plan Pays Off
GH spoilers May 5 reveal Sonny Corinthos blindsides Ethan Lovett with a chilling “one problem” line as Ric Lansing’s whisper campaign finally pays off.

ONNY CORINTHOS DROPS A SHOCKING VERDICT ON ETHAN LOVETT — RIC LANSING WINS
TL;DR: On Tuesday’s General Hospital, Sonny Corinthos blindsides Ethan Lovett with three icy words after Ric Lansing’s two-week whisper campaign pays off in devastating fashion.
Ric Lansing’s Whisper Campaign Just Paid Off
For two solid weeks, Ric Lansing has been quietly chipping away at his half-brother’s confidence in the newest hire at Pozzulo’s. The whisper campaign started the second Ethan Lovett walked back into Port Charles on April 17, and on Tuesday’s General Hospital, Sonny Corinthos finally lets it land.
After Ethan delivers fresh field intel, Sonny looks the Spencer son dead in the eye and says it: “Only one problem… you.”
The room goes cold. The story tilts. And Ric, watching from the corner, isn’t even trying to hide the smile. After two solid weeks of “deep pockets” warnings and “sent to infiltrate” theories about Luke Spencer’s son, Ric just watched his older brother turn on Ethan in real time. And if the look on his face means anything, this is the moment Ric has been chasing since the day Ethan walked back into Port Charles and blew up his quiet stranglehold on the Pozzulo’s empire.
Ethan’s Sidwell Death Wish Just Came Back to Bite Him
Was it the unprompted offer from April 27 that finally did it? Because that conversation cannot be unheard. Ethan stood in this same office and volunteered to “just eliminate” Jenz Sidwell — the bald warlord who tried to murder Holly Sutton, Sasha Corbin, and Lucky Spencer.
Sonny, surprised, asked if Ethan would really kill a man for personal reasons. Ethan said yes. And that he would happily handle it “when the time comes.” The boss waved it off in the moment, said he had reasons for keeping the warlord breathing for now — but he stored the offer away. He always does. Mob bosses never forget the day an underling shows them too much, too early, for too little.
If I know these writers, that single line is the seed of everything we’re watching today. For a mob boss trying to keep his daughter Kristina Davis safe and his Jakarta-jailed enforcer Jason Morgan alive, an employee who volunteers to murder before being asked is not an asset. He is a liability.
Something tells me this is exactly what’s eating at Sonny on Tuesday. Ethan moves too fast. Ethan kills before he is asked. And Ethan walked into Port Charles five minutes ago carrying a grudge no one has fully accounted for.
The Buyout Test Ethan Passed — Or Did He Really?
Don’t forget what happened on April 30. Ric pushed Sonny into testing Ethan with a $30,000 buyout — a payday designed to flush out anyone who could be bought by the enemy. Ethan laughed in their faces. He doesn’t need the money. He pegged it as Ric’s idea instantly. He passed.
But here is the gut-twist nobody is talking about: passing a Ric test does not mean you passed Sonny Corinthos’s test. Reading between the lines, the boss is now applying a brand-new metric — the why behind the refusal. If Ethan turned down thirty grand, what is he actually here for?
The math doesn’t add up unless Ethan is working someone else’s job. And that suspicion alone is enough to make Sonny say what he says today.
Is Sonny Setting Up a Bigger Trap?
Or — and this could be the read of the year — Sonny Corinthos is not actually betraying Ethan at all. Don’t be surprised if Tuesday’s “only one problem” line is pure theater, with Sonny performing distrust to bait a bigger snake in the room. And the bigger snake might be Ric himself.
Because on April 30, Ethan saw something. He spotted Ric pulling Ava Jerome aside at the Metro Court for a private, off-the-books meeting. The same Ric who has been fighting Ethan tooth and nail. The same Ric who has run his own agenda since the day he walked back into Port Charles in 2024.
This has all the makings of Sonny Corinthos hiding his right-hand man in plain sight — pretending to doubt the loyal Spencer so the actual mole stays calm. But this is Sonny we’re talking about, the man who buried A.J. Quartermaine and married Nina Reeves. He has spent his whole life picking the wrong brother. Why should this time be any different?
