Deacon Sharpe married Sheila Carter knowing exactly who she was. He knew about the shootings. He knew about the faked deaths. He knew about the toes. All eight remaining toes. And he married her anyway because he thought love could tame the most dangerous woman in Los Angeles. That was his first mistake. His second mistake was falling in love with Taylor Hayes, the woman Sheila has already tried to kill once before. His third mistake was thinking he could run a covert operation with an exit strategy that consisted of jumping out a window, hiding in shrubbery without his pants, and fake snoring on a couch.

Deacon has been playing spy in the most amateur hour way imaginable. He left an Il Giardino pizza box at the cliff house. His shoes had sand in them. He told Sheila he was having dinner with Hope Logan while he was actually in Taylor’s bedroom listening to smooth jazz. And now Sheila has put on a nurse’s uniform, walked right past security at the Forrester building, and told Taylor Hayes it is time for her medicine. The clock is no longer ticking. The alarm has already gone off.

But here is the question nobody is asking. What if Sheila does not go after Taylor? What if, when this all explodes, the person who does not walk away is Deacon?

Deacon sees the look in Sheila’s eyes and he knows. He has lived with this woman. He has slept next to this woman. He knows the difference between angry Sheila and dangerous Sheila. And when Sheila turns toward Taylor, Deacon does the only thing he can do. He steps between them.

What if Deacon Sharpe takes whatever Sheila was about to give Taylor? A knife. A push. A moment of violence that was aimed at the woman he loves but lands on the man who betrayed Sheila instead?

This is the part that is going to wreck every fan watching. Hope Logan and Deke Sharpe are already terrified. They sat in Hope’s living room hoping their father was having a romantic evening with Taylor and now they are watching their worst nightmare unfold. Steffy Forrester banned Sheila from the building and it did not matter because Sheila walked right past security in scrubs and a stolen badge. Finn cannot reason with his birth mother because Sheila is beyond reason. She is beyond logic. She is a woman scorned by her own husband and her own friend and she is operating on pure fury.

If Deacon goes down, every single person who knew about this affair is going to carry the guilt. Taylor will blame herself for not walking away when Steffy begged her to. Hope will blame herself for covering for her father instead of confronting Sheila directly. Steffy will blame herself for not doing more to physically remove Taylor from the situation. And Sheila? Sheila will blame everyone except herself because that is what Sheila Carter has always done.

The Legacy of a Man Who Hid in a Bush

Here is the truly diabolical part. What if Deacon does not die immediately? What if he survives just long enough to look at Taylor and say something that destroys her? Something like “I would do it again.” What if this man who jumped out of windows and hid in bushes and wore ridiculous disguises proves in his final moment that every single absurd thing he did was because he loved Taylor Hayes more than he feared Sheila Carter?

That is not a death scene. That is a legacy scene. And The Bold and the Beautiful has not had one of those in a very long time.
