The Young and the Restless
Eva Longoria & The Young and the Restlessness’ Eric Braeden’s Juicy Soap Opera Feud Heats Up!
Eva Longoria recently reflected on her early days on the popular soap opera The Young and the Restless during an episode of CNN and HBO Max’s Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? Her former co-star, Eric Braeden, has taken issue with what he perceives as Longoria’s disparaging remarks about soap operas.
In a tweet, Braeden said, “EVA LONGORIA: you just made derogatory remarks about daytime actors! You simply weren’t good enough to survive the pressures of this medium! You were very lucky to get on that ‘housewife’ show! You did one show in 8-12 days, with mediocre but salacious dialogue! Our actresses…”
He continued, “Would run rings around you!! And they did then!! From Robert di Nero to whoever they all are, many of them started in the medium you denigrate! It shows a complete lack of class!!”
While some agreed with Braeden’s response, others believed that the veteran soap actor, who has portrayed Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless since the 1980s, misunderstood Longoria’s comments and overreacted.
In the original interview, Chris Wallace noted that Longoria worked as a headhunter while starring on The Young and the Restless.
Longoria explained, “It didn’t pay enough for me to live off being an actor. So I continued being a headhunter and Young and the Restless, and I would hide the fact that I was on Young and the Restless to my clients because they didn’t want a dumb actress handling their accounts.”
She also recounted how a client recognized her from the soap, and she denied it, telling Wallace, “I was, like, ‘Don’t tell anybody I’m on that show!’ Because I was, you know, still making more money on my day job.”
A fan said user replied, “That’s all she said? He’s overreacting. Struggling actors (whatever genre they are in) just don’t go around bragging at their other job that they are a struggling actor on the side. She didn’t insult daytime soaps.”
The original commenter agreed, stating, “Exactly. She didn’t insult anyone. She just pointed out that there is a bias against actors that exists and she’s experienced. This is factual. Sorry EB get over it.”
As of now, Eva Longoria has not addressed Eric Braeden’s remarks.
