3. Third-Party Partners and Technologies

We work with the following third parties, which may collect information from your browser or device directly when you visit the Site:

Advertising.

This Site is affiliated with CMI Marketing, Inc., d/b/a Raptive (“Raptive”) for the purposes of placing advertising on the Site, and Raptive will collect and use certain data for advertising purposes. To learn more about Raptive’s data usage, click here: https://raptive.com/creator-advertising-privacy-statement/

Raptive and its advertising partners may use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to show you ads that may interest you.

Analytics.

We use Google Analytics (through the MonsterInsights plugin) to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as pages visited and time on site. Learn how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Facebook Pixel.

We use the Meta Pixel, a tool provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. (Facebook), which collects information such as the pages you view, your IP address, browser information, and cookie identifiers. This helps us measure the effectiveness of our Facebook and Instagram posts and ads and show relevant content to people who have visited the Site. Meta may link this information to your Facebook or Instagram account if you have one. See Meta’s Privacy Policy. You can control the ads you see from Meta in your Facebook Ad Preferences.

Email Newsletter.

Our newsletter is delivered by MailerLite, which stores subscriber email addresses and may record whether emails are opened and links are clicked. See MailerLite’s privacy policy. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.

Push Notifications.

If you allow browser notifications, OneSignal stores a device identifier so we can send you alerts. You can turn notifications off at any time in your browser settings. See OneSignal’s privacy policy.

Comments and Spam Protection.

When you leave a comment, we collect the information shown in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser information, to help detect spam. Comments may be checked by Akismet, an automated spam detection service. An anonymized string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Embedded Content.

Articles may include embedded content (for example, videos, social media posts, or images) from other websites. Embedded content behaves the same way as if you visited the other website, and those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content.

4. Cookies and Your Choices

Cookies are small files stored on your device. In addition to the advertising and analytics cookies described above, the Site uses cookies to remember your comment details if you choose, and to keep logged-in users signed in. You can control tracking in several ways:

  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings (some features may not work properly)
  • Opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies at optout.aboutads.info and networkadvertising.org/choices
  • Use the privacy or “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” options displayed on the Site where available
  • Enable a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser, which we and our advertising partner treat as a request to opt out of sale or sharing where required by law

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your name or email address to anyone. We share information only as follows:

  • With the service providers and partners described above, so they can provide advertising, analytics, social media measurement, email, notification, and spam-protection services
  • When required by law, or to protect our rights, our readers, or the Site
  • In connection with a sale, merger, or transfer of the Site or its business

Under some state privacy laws, allowing advertising partners to collect online identifiers and browsing information for targeted advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out as described in Sections 4 and 6.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, and other states with consumer privacy laws, as well as the EU and UK, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected about you and request a copy
  • Request that we correct or delete your personal information
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

To make a request, email us at editor@soapoperamagazine.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may also use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response.

7. Data Retention

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically. Newsletter subscriber information is kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics and advertising data are retained according to our partners’ own retention policies.
