Hey fans! Big stuff went down on The Young and the Restless this week.

Daniel got a nice surprise when he got back to his suite and Lucy was there waiting for him. She came to town because her mom Heather is worried about Daniel with all the Phyllis drama happening. Daniel said he was fine but suggested they go grab some coffee to catch up. Lucy was down for having fun while visiting. But Daniel is worried about how this is affecting Summer. She’s already lost a lot and he doesn’t want her to lose anything else.

Summer ran into Chance outside the GCAC. She was all nervous but he said she could always trust him and talk to him about anything. Summer didn’t even know how to explain her feelings. She just said “Everything’s changed.”

They sat in the jazz lounge. Summer told Chance she and her mom got in a big fight. She said her eyes are finally open now and everything has shifted. Chance looked confused. Summer asked if he knows that feeling on a rollercoaster when you get to the top. You’re nervous but also accept it because you’re already there. She loves her mom but is letting go. She’s in charge of her own life now and can’t change her mom. Chance asked what about Kyle but Summer said there’s no going back. She has new energy and feels free, like the old Summer is back.

At Crimson Lights, Heather told Phyllis to stop talking. But Phyllis told Christine she was serious about pleading guilty. The deal was Phyllis pleads guilty if Christine doesn’t charge her kids. Phyllis wanted to go before a judge right away.

In chambers, Phyllis said she was ignoring her lawyer’s advice to plead guilty to protect her kids. She teared up saying she just wanted it to be over. The judge said she didn’t have to follow the DA’s recommended sentence. She asked Phyllis to explain before her decision.

Phyllis told the judge how scared she was of Jeremy Stark. She said he manipulated her into targeting Diane Jenkins while no one gave her a break. She cried describing how lost she felt and Jeremy took advantage, threatening her kids. She went along with his plan to fake her death because it seemed like the only way.

Phyllis cried about how her kids were in pain thinking she was dead. She realized she caused that and couldn’t live without them. But Jeremy wouldn’t let her out. He started scaring her by taking out life insurance in his name. When she refused to stay married, he attacked her. She defended herself and killed him.

Phyllis took responsibility but begged the judge to understand she was coerced by Jeremy and terrified for her and her kids’ lives. Christine appreciated Phyllis taking responsibility but said laws were broken that couldn’t be ignored. The judge asked if her recommended sentence changed after Phyllis’ story. Christine stood firm that the punishment had to match the crimes.

Heather argued Phyllis showed good character and wasn’t surprised Christine still pushed for harsh punishment given their history. Christine said she’d never let personal feelings affect her job. She had no proof Stark threatened the kids beyond Carson’s statement. Her recommendation was based on facts while Heather improperly questioned her integrity.

Lucy and Daniel ran into Mariah with baby Aria at the park. After introductions, Daniel insisted he was fine when Mariah said it was sweet Lucy came to check on him. But he admitted everything with Phyllis and his career was a lot. Mariah got it – change is hard.

Daniel complained about not having energy for people making bad choices. Mariah pointed out Daniel hasn’t always been perfect either. Daniel took her point that he can be quick to judge. Mariah thought since he’s so hard on himself, he expects a lot from others too. But people need love and space to change at their own pace.

At the lounge, Summer told Chance she felt reckless and needed to do something crazy to get the energy out. She teased needing to find a real rollercoaster and asked him to come. He couldn’t but said a rollercoaster was just what she needed. He knew he’d see her again soon and was rooting for her.

In chambers, the judge asked what Phyllis felt was fair. Phyllis said she’d already paid a price losing her loved ones’ respect. She wanted the chance to make amends and be better from community service, not a jail cell. She begged for that opportunity. But the judge had heard enough.

Christine updated Chance on Phyllis’ case and Heather’s accusations about her to the judge. Chance was sure she was professional as always. Christine got a message from Paul wanting to meet in Lisbon about their future, which didn’t sound good. Chance asked how she wanted the case to end. Christine said Phyllis should be punished for her crimes because it’s right, not revenge. But she wanted the best for the kids too. Then she got word the verdict was reached.

At Society, Heather said Phyllis had to see this through. Phyllis felt her kids would know she did the right thing either way.

Mariah had to run home but told Daniel she hoped things worked out with Phyllis since moms are special. Daniel thanked her for talking. When alone, Lucy asked to visit Phyllis but Daniel wanted to wait.

In chambers, the judge recapped Phyllis’ crimes but believed she feared for her life from Jeremy. With no contradicting witnesses beyond Carson backing her self-defense claim, she rejected Christine’s recommendation. The judge gave six months community service and a year probation, warning next time she wouldn’t be so forgiving. Phyllis thanked her. Christine told her not to waste this gift. Phyllis promised she wouldn’t.

Later, Summer laughed and screamed riding a rollercoaster. What a fun twist!
