The Days of Our Lives recap September 22, 2026 opens on a corridor and a woman who did not soften a word of it. Rita Lesley found Sarah Horton and Kayla Johnson and told them a patient had died because of improper treatment. There will be an internal investigation into Destiny’s death, she said, and Sarah is its subject. She was speaking for EJ DiMera.

Sarah did not absorb that quietly. She went off, and Rita stood there perfectly calm and told her she was making a scene.

Once Rita was gone, the fight went out of Sarah. She started turning over whether there was more she could have done for Destiny, and Kayla stopped her. Then Sarah said the thing she is actually frightened of, which is losing her license. Our full look at Sarah’s legal trouble has the rest.

Kayla went and found Rita afterward. She told her EJ has assumed the complaint came from Sarah, that it could just as easily have come from her, and that going after one doctor solves nothing. That landed like a threat because it was one.

Six days later Kayla was phoning her at home about a wrongful death suit from Destiny’s parents. On day seven Rita was in the building talking about leaves of absence. Both women have started asking out loud whether that sequence is a plan.

Xander Kiriakis and Philip Kiriakis arrived with what they thought was a rescue. Maggie Kiriakis heard the word gambling and everything else stopped counting. She wanted nothing to do with the money and said she felt disrespected, a harder word than angry.

Philip said he had been torn, that the risk was taken for the family and not for himself. Maggie told him dressing it up as a selfless act is an excuse she has heard before. Xander tried to smooth it over and got nowhere.

So Maggie said she was stepping back from Titan, because she cannot work beside someone she no longer trusts. Philip said he respects her even after defying her, Xander said Titan does not run without her, and she reluctantly agreed to stay. Keep one thing straight: clearing that loan is a decision those two have made, not a receipt anybody has seen.

Days of Our Lives Recap: Holly Jonas Got a Harder Answer Than She Came For

Holly Jonas caught Mason Whitfield in the square, showed him the anonymous text asking whether she was having fun, and asked if he has been harassing her. He said dryly that he does not care whether she is having fun at all. Then he handed her the answer she has chased for weeks. He blames her for the death of someone he knew.

Holly started on her version and he cut her off, because he already had the whole of it from the girl herself. She was fragile, he said, Holly knew exactly how fragile, and Holly went after her online anyway. He told her she played a big part in it. Later he looked at a set of dog tags and said he had failed his friend, and failed her too. The show still has not said the name out loud.

Brady Black and Steve Johnson Kept Circling Dominic Marino

Brady Black took the day’s news to Steve Johnson. They worked through Sarah’s FDA letter and the lawsuit that followed, and both read EJ’s hand in the timing. That is their reading, nothing more.

Then Brady passed on what Marlena Evans spotted, that DiMera and Marino both mean of the sea. Steve took it as deliberate rather than coincidence, which either ties Dominic Marino to Stefano DiMera or means someone wants them thinking it. They finished no closer to Marino.
