Beyond the Gates Spoilers: Hayley Lawson Neutralized by Vernon Dupree as Heather Armstrong Blindsides Her

TL;DR: Vernon Dupree told his family on October 9 that Hayley Lawson has been neutralized, five days after promising Anita he would neutralize the threat. The hit is over, the deal is in place, and the recordings still have not changed hands. Next week Heather Armstrong, The Impaler herself, decides Hayley is her new friend.

Vernon Told the Family the Hayley Problem Is Handled

The latest Beyond the Gates spoilers sell Hayley Lawson as the Duprees’ next target, and that story is already a week old. On Friday, October 9, Vernon Dupree told his family the Hayley problem had been neutralized. Anita Dupree heard how far her husband and Marcel Malone went, and she had one word for it: sinister.

On Monday, October 5, Vernon promised Anita he would neutralize the threat, the same day Joey Armstrong called Hayley a dead woman walking. On Tuesday, Vernon warned Bill Hamilton that men like Joey hear about a problem and start digging graves. By the end of that episode, a gloved figure had Hayley by the arm.

On Wednesday, Marcel had her tied to a chair in a plastic-draped room, electric hacksaw in hand. Hayley bought her life by naming her cousin Randy Parker as the brains behind the con and agreeing to hand over every recording of Bill talking about Martin Richardson‘s roadside killing. Then Marcel’s phone buzzed, and Vernon walked out with a deal.

The Impaler Picks Hayley as Her New Friend

Here is what the stale blurb misses: the next danger to Hayley Lawson is not a Dupree. Heather Armstrong, The Impaler herself, flew back from London on Friday wanting a second chance with her big brother. Next week’s previews have her deciding a would-be murderess makes a fine new friend, and the promo shows her sending Hayley a drink at Uptown while Hayley asks, “How do you know my name?”

Hayley has never been this alone. Randy told her to lose his number on Thursday, and she stormed out on Leslie Thomas the same day when Leslie pushed about what got the charges dropped. The previews say Hayley meets her match on Thursday, October 15, and nobody has named the match. My money says it wears Heather’s perfume.

Is Hayley Lawson Leaving Beyond the Gates After Vernon Dupree’s Deal?

No. Nothing says Hayley Lawson is leaving, and the show says the opposite. Marquita Goings told fans to hang tight on September 28, and head writer Michele Val Jean said this week that Hayley is not done scheming or done with Bill. Next week’s previews keep her busy: a jab at Bill Monday, the mystery match Thursday, a peace offering to Randy Friday.

Vernon’s deal has a loose end. Hayley agreed to hand over the recordings. Nobody has shown her doing it, and Vernon warned Friday that if she does not, she will be at Joey’s mercy. A neutralized threat does not need a warning like that.

Bill Hamilton Keeps Giving Dani the Credit

Bill is the one man in this mess enjoying himself. He left the hospital on October 1 already treating Dani Dupree as his ride-or-die, and on October 7 he told her everything good in his life traces back to her. They hugged. Dani went home to Andre Richardson, who had hit his limit and told her he was sick of it.

Thursday brought the question Andre has chewed on since the tornado: did she still want to be married to him, or did she want Bill instead? Dani said Andre is the man she loves, they made up, and she admitted she has not been careful with his heart. Don’t get comfortable: the previews say Bill wants more from Dani on October 15 and Andre loses his cool in front of her on October 16, and Val Jean promises Dani will find her marriage and herself in danger.

Joey Armstrong Cannot Look Away From His Sister

Joey is fighting two wars at once. While he ordered Randy to collect Hayley’s tapes, his sister sat in London hearing that the carjacking of Vanessa McBride went perfectly. Vanessa has no idea, though viewers saw it on October 2. Joey suspects, and the man who vowed to deal with whoever hurt Vanessa told Heather over the phone that he is “gonna hurt a lot more than that” if she keeps pushing. On Friday she answered his warning text with a selfie, blowing a kiss.

Next week pours gas on it. Jacob Hawthorne digs into The Impaler on Monday, Joey’s admission shocks Vanessa on Thursday, and Heather moves in on Joey on Friday. Reading between the lines, the sibling cold war and the Hayley mess are about to share a table, because the promo has Joey on the phone with Vernon about a problem with Hayley’s name on it.

Vernon Dupree Closed One Door and Heather Armstrong Opened Another

Vernon can tell Anita the threat is handled, but Hayley Lawson walked out of that plastic-draped room with her life, her freedom and, as far as anyone has shown, her recordings. That is not neutralized. That is a woman with nothing left to lose, and the most dangerous person in Fairmont Crest just sent her a drink.
