Congressman Martin Gets Checked, Grandpa Vernon Doubles Down

We’re only 2 weeks into Beyond the Gates & fast fans already know that Martin Richardson continues to fake it to make it. BTG kicked off with Martin having a sweet & very warm-fuzzy relationship with his Grandpa Vernon Dupree, but that’s about to expire. Once Vernow learns Martin is aspiring to run for President, you know what will hit the fan.

As it Turns Out, Martin Richardson is Kind of a Tool

Why is Martin Richardson (Brandon Clayborn) always mad & disrespectful to his husband Bradley “Smitty” Smith (Mike Manning)? Also, how long has this behavior been going on? Martin & Smitty have two teenagers & it appears like Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) did for her then husband Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett), Smitty gave up his career to appease his spouse.

Smitty gave up being an investigative journalist to be a full-time stay-at-home dad & to portray a specific image to complement Martin’s political career. Well, their kids are now teenagers & Smitty wants something for himself. Too bad Congressman Martin thinks the world revolves around him despite the skeletons he may or may not have in his closet.

Martin Richardson’s Loop & Who is In & Out

Anita & Vernon Dupree (Tamara Tunie & Clifton Davis) are in the loop, but it’s unclear if Martin’s parents &/or husband are. The mandated attendance of the entire Dupree family, including Dani, was to protect Martin from Bill Hamilton disclosing the skeleton(s) Martin has in his closet. Martin’s mother Dr. Nicole Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix) didn’t like attending the wedding but didn’t demand the reason(s) behind the request from her parents. Neither did Martin’s husband Smitty.

It’s nearly clear that Martin has killed someone. Who did Martin Richardson kill & why & when?

Even Grandpa Vernon Has His Limits…

Despite whatever & whoever Martin has in his past, Grandpa Vernon has been supporting him full-time & that stops now. Congressman/Grandon Richardson wants to be President of the United States of America. Grandpa Vernson thinks Martin has lost his damn mind & will not be offering his support & will likely do everything in his power to prevent Martin from taking any steps down a presidential path.

Vernon isn’t having much of Martin for right now & Martin’s husband Smitty has had enough of being Martin’s bitch for years on end without anything being about him. Their kids are older & Smitty needs another purpose than being at Martin’s beck & call 24/7/365.

Is Martin Richardson about to lose it all on Beyond the Gates?
