GH EXECUTIVE NATHAN VARNI CONFIRMS AN ANTHONY GEARY TRIBUTE IS IN THE WORKS
TL;DR: Get your tissues ready, General Hospital fans. Executive Director Nathan Varni announced the show is creating a special montage to honor the late Anthony Geary, set to air later this month.
A Tribute Is Coming
General Hospitalย isn’t done honoring Anthony Geary just yet.
Executive Director Nathan Varni took toย Twitterย to share that the show is working on something special for fans still mourning the loss of the legendary actor. “Our team is working on a loving montage to be included later in the month, keep an eye out,” Varni wrote alongside an image reading “In Loving Memory of Anthony Geary.” “RIP #TonyGeary ๐”
The announcement confirms what many fans had been hoping for. While GH aired Geary’s final full episode as Luke Spencer on New Year’s Day, a dedicated tribute montage will give viewers a chance to look back on the moments that made him an eight-time Emmy winner and daytime’s most iconic leading man.

Fans Have Been Waiting
Geary passed away on December 14, 2025, at age 78 from complications following surgery. The news devastated the soap community, and tributes poured in from his General Hospital family, including an emotional message from Genie Francis, who played Laura to his Luke for over four decades.
The New Year’s Day rerun of Geary’s final full episode gave fans a chance to revisit his incredible talent, but a montage will hit differently. Expect to see clips spanning his 40-year run on the soap, from the early days of Luke and Laura to his final farewell to Port Charles.
What to Expect
Varni didn’t share specifics about when the montage will air or how long it will be, only that it’s coming “later in the month.” Given the scope of Geary’s legacy, the team likely has decades of unforgettable moments to sift through. The 1981 wedding that drew 30 million viewers. The adventures. The schemes. The love story that defined a generation of daytime television.
Whatever they include, we’re going to need a whole box of tissues.
