Mariah Copeland Has Lost Her Grip on Reality

Buckle up, Young and the Restless fans, because Mariah Copeland’s spiral into darkness just got even more chilling.

Mariah Copeland is behind the wheel with little Dominic in the backseat when Ian Ward materializes in the passenger seat like a ghost she can’t shake. “Beautiful day for a drive, isn’t it?” he says, as casually as if they’re going to brunch and not fleeing from the police.

But here’s what makes this so V.C. Andrews terrifying: Ian isn’t really there. He’s a figment of Mariah’s fractured psyche, and he’s been pushing her deeper into this nightmare since she checked herself out of that psychiatric facility. He tells her Dominic is “small and moldable” and reminds her that she wants to be his mother “just like it should have been from the start.”

When Mariah looks at him and says, “I thought you’d abandoned me,” the chill that runs down your spine is very, very real.

Ian smiles. He could never do that.

He goes on about how he’s been testing her, and she passed with flying colors. He’s proud of her. He wants her to trust him.

But even in her delusion, Mariah Copeland feels the weight of what she’s done. “I can feel Abby’s pain,” she admits.

Ian dismisses it. Pain is growth, he says. Keep your eyes on the prize.

When Dominic wakes up and asks about his “papa” Chance, Ian vanishes. And Mariah is left alone with a little boy who misses his family, singing him lullabies and calling him “Bowie” โ€” the nickname she gave him when he was growing inside her.

What do you think is going to happen when Mariah finally snaps out of this? Will she turn herself in, or will Ian’s voice push her past the point of no return? Write to the editor at amber@soapoperamagazine.com with your theories!

Devon Tells Sharon the Horrifying Truth

At Sharon’s house, Devon arrives with news no mother ever wants to hear.

Sharon hasn’t spoken to Mariah Copeland since she left the psychiatric clinic and said she was headed to Florida. She has no idea what’s coming.

Devon shows her the motel security footage. A woman walking away with Dominic. And that woman is Mariah.

Sharon can’t believe it. Mariah would never do something like this! It doesn’t make any sense!

But it does make sense, and that’s the tragedy. Mariah’s connection to Dominic โ€” the baby she carried as a surrogate, the child she almost couldn’t give up โ€” has been weaponized by her own broken mind. And now Devon is standing in Sharon’s living room, telling her that her daughter has kidnapped his son.

Nick promises Devon they’ll find Dominic. But the look on Sharon’s face says everything: she knew Mariah was struggling, and she blames herself for not keeping closer tabs on her.

Noah Newman Wants to Run Away with Sienna Bacall

Meanwhile, at Chancellor Park Cafe, Noah Newman is making big plans with Sienna Bacall that have nothing to do with Genoa City.

He owns The Shadow Room now, and he wants Sienna to run it with him. They’ll build their own little empire!

But Sienna isn’t interested in empires. “The Shadow Room has Matt’s stink all over it,” she says, and honestly? Fair point. She wants a “lo-fi rock and roll life,” not a business venture tied to her traumatic past.

Noah, bless his lovesick heart, says he’s good with a lo-fi life as long as she’s in it. He promises to follow her to the ends of the Earth.

Sienna sighs. She loves him โ€” that much is clear โ€” but she’s worried his family doesn’t approve and that he hasn’t thought this through. Still, when she tells him he “burns so bright” and that she’s felt safe since she met him, we know she’s already halfway convinced.

Abby Clings to Chance’s Memory

Back at the Chancellor Mansion, Abby calls Victor begging for help, then picks up one of Dominic’s stuffed toys and breaks down. Chance bought it for their son. It was his favorite.

She tells Devon she believes it’s a message from Chance โ€” that he’s looking over Dominic and keeping him safe.

We’re not crying. You’re crying.

Young and the Restless fans, do you think Mariah Copeland will come to her senses before it’s too late? And will Noah actually convince Sienna to leave town with him? Sound off in the comments!
