Nathan West and Lulu Spencer kissed. Twice. They admitted they have feelings for each other. And now, according to General Hospital spoilers for Wednesday, February 4, Nathan is opening up to his sister Nina Reeves while Lulu is confiding in her mother Laura Collins.

The secret is out — at least within the family. And once Laura Collins knows something, it’s only a matter of time before the rest of Port Charles finds out too.

Nathan West Has Been Holding This In

Let’s talk about what Nathan told Lulu during that blizzard:

He’s wanted to kiss her for a long time. His feelings are real. Maxie has already moved on and made another family since he “died.” The life they had is just a memory, and he can’t live in it anymore.

Nathan West came back from the dead only to find his wife has moved on, his son calling another man “daddy,” and his entire life erased. He’s been grieving a marriage that ended without his consent while pretending to be okay with it.

Now he’s about to tell Nina the truth. And Nina — who has made more than her share of messy romantic decisions — is probably going to understand exactly what her brother is going through.

Lulu Spencer Is Torn

Lulu admitted she enjoyed that kiss. She also admitted her feelings for Nathan are real. But she pulled away because she knows what this would do to Maxie.

“Maxie would kill me if she knew I had feelings for him too,” Lulu said.

Here’s the tragedy: Maxie is in a coma. She can’t kill anyone. She can’t even wake up to fight for her husband. And every day that passes, Nathan and Lulu’s connection grows stronger while Maxie’s claim on him grows weaker.

When Lulu confides in Laura, she’s going to be looking for permission. She’s going to want her mother to tell her it’s okay to move on, that Dante is in the past, that Nathan’s marriage to Maxie effectively ended when he “died.”

Laura Collins loves her daughter. But she also loves Maxie like family. This is going to put her in an impossible position.

What About Dante Falconeri?

Let’s not forget that Lulu and Dante Falconeri have a complicated history of their own. They grew apart. Their feelings are “confused,” as Lulu put it. But they share children, they share a life, and Dante is still very much present.

The spoilers don’t mention Dante’s reaction to any of this — yet. But if Nathan and Lulu’s families know about their kiss, how long before Dante finds out? And how is he going to feel about his partner falling for a man he’s been working alongside at the PCPD?

This love triangle is about to become a full-blown disaster.

Maxie Jones Deserves Better

Here’s the thing that makes this whole situation so heartbreaking: Maxie Jones has no idea any of this is happening.

She’s lying in a hospital bed, completely unaware that her husband — the love of her life, the man she mourned, the man who came back from the dead — is falling for her best friend. She can’t fight for him. She can’t confront Lulu. She can’t do anything but lie there while her entire world falls apart around her.

When Maxie wakes up — and she will wake up — she’s going to have to process not just the time she lost, but the betrayal that happened while she was unconscious.

Nathan and Lulu might have real feelings. But Maxie Jones deserves better than finding out her husband moved on while she was in a coma.
