This Woman Was Supposed to Be a Spy

Let us review Cat Greene‘s undercover ISA record on Days of Our Lives because it is genuinely spectacular in all the wrong ways.

Shane Donovan recruited Cat for ONE job. Investigate EJ DiMera. Find out where he got the money to buy Salem University Hospital. Bring down the DiMera criminal empire. Shane said she was in the perfect position because she was already working at the hospital. Stay close, gather intel, do not get emotionally involved.

Cat has done the exact opposite of every single instruction. She slept with Chad DiMera while investigating his brother. She developed real feelings for EJ while pretending to be his executive assistant. She drugged EJ to cover up snooping around the DiMera mansion. She used a classified ISA tool to crack the security codes on the secret lab doors. And last week Gwen Rizczech sat down and vented to Cat about her problems, potentially leaking details about EJ’s entire operation to a spy she doesn’t even know IS a spy. The ISA spent years trying to bring down the DiMera empire and Cat is treating the mission like a dating app.

Thursday Kayla Reaches Out and the Walls Close In

On today’s Days of Our Lives, Kayla Brady reached out to Cat for help finding Stephanie Johnson. A desperate mother turning to the one person who might have access to the hospital’s restricted areas. Kayla does not know Cat is ISA. She just knows Cat works closely with EJ and might help locate her kidnapped daughter.

This put Cat in an impossible position. Helping Kayla means drawing MORE attention to her access to the lab at the exact moment she needs to be invisible. Every favor she does outside her cover role is another thread someone could pull to unravel the whole operation. And Cat keeps saying yes because underneath the ISA training, she actually CARES about these people. Which is precisely why she is terrible at this.

Friday Cat Confronts EJ and the ISA Should Be Screaming

Then Friday happens. Cat Greene confronts EJ DiMera face to face.

An undercover agent whose ENTIRE mission depends on her target not knowing she exists decides to confront him while he’s at his most dangerous. EJ just revealed a resurrection empire to Paulina. He told Gwen they have other subjects waiting. He is wearing Stefano’s Phoenix ring and operating like a man with nothing to lose. And Cat walks up and starts a confrontation.

What is she confronting him about? Is it the Lexie resurrection she learned about through Gwen’s loose lips? Has EJ finally started suspecting her after grilling Rita Lesley about Cat’s background? Whatever the reason, she is doing the ONE thing every spy handbook says never do.

She is making it personal.

Her Feelings Are the Real Threat to This Entire Operation

Here is the truth on Days of Our Lives. Cat is not a bad agent because she lacks skills. She is a bad agent because she cannot stop falling for her targets. She read Wuthering Heights to EJ when he was in a coma at a clinic in Italy years ago. They both ended up with copies of the book on their desks without remembering that connection. Still, there is genuine history between these two that predates the mission, and Cat cannot separate the woman who once cared for EJ from the agent who’s supposed to destroy him.

Shane said Cat’s personal connection made her perfect for the job. What he never accounted for is that personal connections cut both ways. Cat Greene is not going to bring down the DiMera empire on Friday. She is going to stand in front of EJ, feel something she should not feel, and give him exactly enough information for him to figure out she’s been playing him.

And when EJ figures it out? It’s not going to be pretty. The man wearing Stefano’s original Phoenix ring does not forgive betrayal. He eliminates the source.
