Here is what makes this theory so delicious. EJ DiMera has already floated the idea of Gabi having a leadership role at DiMera Enterprises. Asked her directly to accept the CEO position, back when he didn’t think she would ever saying yes. He has watched Johnny step back, watched Theo slide into position as the steadying force, and watched the company absorb blow after blow from Xander’s lawsuit and Tony’s maneuvering. EJ DiMera does not consolidate power by accident. He does it by collecting useful people and placing them exactly where they can do the most damage for him.

Gabi is useful. EJ knows it. And now that she is working to clear her debt with Titan, she will arrive at her next conversation with clean hands and a cleared conscience. Imagine the scene. Gabi DiMera walks into DiMera Enterprises having settled the Philip situation, having accepted her share of Stefan’s estate, having done the right thing by every metric Salem uses to measure these things. And EJ opens the door and says welcome back.

Could she say yes? And could saying yes be exactly what EJ needs her to do?

Here is the other side of the theory and it is the side that keeps us up at night. EJ DiMera does not invite people into his orbit because he likes them. He invites them because they are useful and because having them close means they cannot maneuver against him from the outside. Gabi DiMera has a DiMera surname, a DiMera inheritance, and a long history of knowing exactly where the bodies are buried at that company.

If EJ brings her in, she is not a partner. She is a buffer. She is the person who absorbs the first hit when Tony makes another move, when Xander pivots, when the board gets restless. A DiMera Enterprises executive role for her sounds like a triumph. Could it actually be a trap dressed up as an opportunity?

She has survived Salem long enough to know the difference. The question is whether she is too eager to be back inside that building to care.
