Agent Vaughn arrived first to wrap up the Cullum and Sidwell investigation, reminding her she could face serious charges for her part in building the cold fusion device and dangling cooperation as her best exit. He also delivered the headlines: Cullum is dead, and Sidwell is in cuffs.

Then came Liesl Obrecht, and the scalpels were verbal. She is wounded that Britt never told her Cassius was masquerading as Nathan, and hurt that her daughter never asked her to reverse-engineer the experimental Huntington’s treatment. Britt tried to defend herself, then sat horrified as she learned her mother had been forced to finish the device in her place. Liesl stormed out with a dagger for a goodbye: she will devote herself to the child who actually wants her, meaning Cassius.

Dante Falconeri came down to the jail to tell Britt Westbourne the update everyone keeps treating as comfort: Cullum is dead, but her release belongs to the WSB, not to him. Freedom is visible through the bars and completely out of reach.

The one pure heart in this story remains Rocco, who is furious with his parents over the arrest and determined to visit, telling Lulu Spencer that you can still care about someone who made a mistake. Lulu, still reeling from learning her whole romance with “Nathan” was a lie, promised not to stand in his way once visitors are allowed. Somebody protect that boy’s heart, because the adults keep breaking their own.

Through every one of those visits, one truth never entered the room: Britt Westbourne does not have Huntington’s, and the diagnosis that dictated years of her choices was manufactured to control her. Her own mother still speaks of the “treatment” as if it were real. The only living people who heard Cullum’s confession are a woman in a hospital bed and a man with an unconfirmed pulse.

And here is the twist of the knife: the truth got harder to tell this week. Joss traded an official statement branding Cullum a hero and pinning his sins on Cassius in exchange for two men’s freedom, which means “the hero faked your diagnosis” now contradicts the WSB’s own press release. Britt’s liberation from her death sentence is officially inconvenient.
