SONNY’S SABOTAGE PLAN AGAINST CARLY SPENCER COULD BLOW UP IN HIS FACE

TL;DR: Sonny Corinthos arms Brick with a flash drive meant to end Carly Spencer’s relationship with Valentin Cassadine from the shadows, but the plan could push her straight into his arms instead.

Brick’s Loaded Gift

Carly Spencer has never once needed a man’s permission to fall in love, and yet here’s Sonny Corinthos, still trying to run her romance with Valentin Cassadine from the shadows like he gets a vote. When Brick showed up at Carly’s door with flowers as cover and a flash drive as the real gift, it wasn’t protection. It was Sonny handing his fixer a loaded gun and hoping she’d be the one to pull the trigger on Valentin herself.

Brick was blunt with Sonny: he’d already tried talking Valentin into leaving town, Valentin refused, so now the plan is to make Carly do the dirty work. Hand her the evidence, step back, and let her decide Valentin has to go, so his fingerprints never show up on the breakup, convenient as that sounds. Justine Turner even pointed out she’s in a similar spot with Sonny herself, loving a man whose past could blow up in her face too, though nobody’s handed her a flash drive on him.

Got a wild theory about how Carly’s flash drive plays out, or think Sonny’s jealousy runs even deeper than this? Send your best fan theories and speculation to amber@soapoperamagazine.com, we want to hear them!

Carly’s Real Move

Here’s the problem with sabotage as a strategy. Carly already had her shot at taking Brick’s bait, and she turned him down flat, insisting Valentin has changed. She quietly held onto the flash drive anyway, but that doesn’t mean she’s plotting his downfall. It means she wanted the option, not the outcome Sonny is banking on.

If Carly ever opens that drive, it may not be to end things with Valentin at all. It could be to walk in armed with the truth and dare him to explain himself, which is a very different ending than the one Sonny is counting on. That single choice is the whole ballgame here, and Sonny doesn’t get to make it for her, no matter how badly he wants to.

The Backfire Risk

That’s the real risk buried in this plan. If Carly figures out Sonny orchestrated the whole flash-drive maneuver behind her back, again, it won’t read as concern. It will read as one more man trying to run her life, and she has spent decades proving she does not respond well to that particular move. Backfiring isn’t only possible here, it’s the likelier outcome.

So why does Sonny keep doing this? Every time she finds happiness with someone who isn’t him, he treats it like a personal insult. He didn’t only object to Jack, and he’s not only objecting to Valentin now. He objects to the entire premise of her building a life he doesn’t get to approve, and that says a lot more about Sonny than it does about whoever she’s dating.

Not His Business

She isn’t his wife. She isn’t his responsibility to manage. And yet here he is, deploying Brick like a chess piece to make sure her love life bends to his comfort level. Let her live, even with a man he calls a monster, because it was never his business to begin with.

Compare that to Laura Collins‘s approach with Valentin this same week. Laura didn’t ambush anyone or hand out incriminating flash drives. She told Valentin plainly that if he wants her help smoothing things over with Lulu Spencer, he has to actually stop painting Lulu as the villain to Charlotte Cassadine first. That’s a boundary, negotiated in the open, and it’s the opposite of everything Sonny is doing here.

Do you think Sonny’s jealousy is really about protecting Carly, or is it something else entirely? Sound off in the comments below!

A Choice That Isn’t His

If Sonny truly wanted to protect the mother of his children, he’d say so to her face instead of routing his jealousy through Brick and a flash drive. Until he does, this isn’t protection, it’s possession dressed up as concern, and the moment Carly figures that out, she may hand Sonny exactly the backfire he never saw coming, with Valentin standing closer than ever.
