Jack Abbott had one job during his Young and the Restless family sit-down about Billy’s discovery, and he still blew it completely.

Jack Shuts Down This Y&R Sit-Down Before It Even Starts
Jack Abbott sat down with Ashley Abbott and Traci Abbott at Jabot to go over what Billy Abbott uncovered, and instead of actually engaging with the information, Jack shut the conversation down before it had a real chance to go anywhere productive. This is not a case of Ashley and Traci demanding an all-out legal war. They made it clear from the start they do not want that kind of fight at all. They simply want to explore what Billy found and understand what it actually means for the family, which is about as reasonable a starting point as this family could realistically ask for.
Jack could not even meet them there. He dug in, refused to engage, and acted like considering Billy’s findings was somehow an act of betrayal rather than basic due diligence. That is not leadership. That is Jack Abbott being a blockhead while the two women trying to have an actual conversation with him get stonewalled for their trouble.

He Is Standing in the Way of His Own Family’s Answers
Here is what makes this so frustrating to watch play out. Ashley and Traci did not come into that meeting swinging guns blazing, ready for a fight. They came in measured, willing to hear Billy’s side out, willing to actually look at what he found before jumping to conclusions in either direction. That is exactly the kind of reasonable, level-headed approach that should make it easy for Jack to at least engage with the conversation instead of shutting it down entirely. Instead, he treated their openness like a problem to be managed rather than a perfectly rational response to genuinely new information.
This is not the first time Jack has struggled to actually listen when it matters most, and the pattern is starting to look less like protectiveness and more like plain old stubbornness dressed up as concern. If Billy genuinely found something worth investigating, shutting the conversation down does not make the problem disappear on its own. It only delays the moment Jack eventually has to deal with it anyway, probably after everyone else in the family has already moved past him and figured it out entirely on their own. Ashley and Traci deserve a brother who can at least sit through a difficult conversation without immediately digging in his heels and refusing to move.

Jack Owes His Sisters a Real Conversation
Nobody is asking Jack to declare war on his own son, and Ashley and Traci made that abundantly clear from the very start of this conversation. All anyone wanted was a willingness to hear the facts out before deciding how to respond, and Jack could not even manage that much when it counted. If this family is going to get through whatever Billy actually uncovered, Jack needs to stop blocking the conversation and start being an active part of it instead of the biggest obstacle standing in its way.
