Think about how lopsided this relationship has been since February. Willow was handed Drew Cain‘s congressional seat by appointment while Drew was still alive and still the sitting congressman. Brennan buried her evidence. Brennan brokered the July 28 divorce deal that bought her silence and Drew’s. Brennan told her which committee to sit on, and she sat.

Every favor came with a hook. Willow Cain was a congresswoman on a leash, and Brennan held the other end. As of Monday, the leash has a second handle. Willow holds proof that a WSB station chief misused federal resources to bury evidence, which is the same category of exposure Brennan has used to control other people in this town.

She is short on allies. Michael Corinthos won sole custody of Wiley and Amelia on June 12, and Willow lives in his gatehouse on his terms. Her whole reason for pushing Brennan was to get something on Michael. What Does Willow Do With the Brennan Recording?

Casting buzz has Chris McKenna set to exit this fall with Brennan written out in a death storyline as the show leans harder into WSB drama. ABC has not confirmed the exit, and no final airdate has been announced.

A departing character just handed his newest enemy the ammunition to destroy him, days before his reported final stretch begins. Then comes Friday, August 28. Drew vows revenge on Thursday and gets waylaid on Friday. Ava sets a trap for someone that same day, but the target is unnamed and nothing confirmed links her trap to Drew’s ambush. Chatter that merges them is guessing.

Reading between the lines, Willow Cain does not need to play the tape to win. She only needs Brennan to know it exists. Don’t be surprised if the reveal lands at the exact moment Brennan tries to pull her leash again, because that is how this woman operates.
