Steve Burton teased something big on his own podcast with Bradford Anderson, and General Hospital fans are already buzzing about who this mystery new face could be!

Steve Burton is never shy about giving fans a little something extra, and he did exactly that on the latest episode of That’s Awesome, the podcast he co-hosts with his longtime on-screen partner in crime, Bradford Anderson. While talking about why history matters so much on a soap, Burton revealed he recently filmed scenes with a brand-new castmate. “There’s a guy on the show right now who came on the show, and you guys will see him,” he shared, admitting he wasn’t even sure if the episode had aired yet. “I had some scenes with him. I can’t say what it is yet.”

Burton didn’t name names, and he didn’t confirm a character. What he did share is that this new actor’s storyline is tied directly into Port Charles history, telling Anderson the newcomer’s choices in their scenes together “had to do with events that have happened in history with some characters.”

He went on to explain that he actually walked his new co-star through some of that backstory himself, since the actor is new to the canvas but not new to the business. “He’s been an actor for a long, long time,” Burton said. “He’s been on some prime-time shows. He’s done this a long time.” Burton offered to fill him in on the history behind the scene they were filming together, and the actor happily took him up on it, telling Burton he usually likes building his own backstory for a role but was glad to hear the details this time around.

It’s a classic Burton move, honestly. He’s spent decades building Jason Morgan’s relationships across Port Charles, and he clearly takes pride in helping a new face land their footing. He and Anderson talked at length about how much easier it is for longtime cast members to fall into a scene together because of shared history, and how much harder that same scene can be for someone brand new who doesn’t have it yet.
