He pulled up the tracker on Scout Cain‘s phone, saw Sonny Corinthos‘s address, and drove straight over. Then he hammered on the door and demanded his daughter back. The episode faded out on his fist.

Alexis Davis was sitting inside Sonny’s living room with a stack of paperwork, helping him take his business legitimate. Alexis is Scout’s grandmother, the mother of the late Sam McCall, and Drew has a restraining order that keeps her away from the girl. She had already grumbled that she was sick of how Drew treats Scout. Now she had a front row seat.

Meanwhile, Scout was nowhere near Sonny’s. She had snuck out of the house on her own and was at the Quartermaine boathouse with Rocco Falconeri, where the two of them shared their first kiss. This is the pattern, and it keeps getting worse. Every time Scout reaches for the family Drew banned, he treats it as something an adult is doing to him. Alexis asks to let Scout see Sam’s side of the family, and Drew says no. Scout wants time with her brother, and Drew forbids it. Now Scout leaves the house under her own steam, and Drew’s first move is to go after Sonny.

Reading between the lines, Drew cannot picture a version of this where his daughter simply wanted out. A missing kid, in his head, means somebody snatched her. Don’t be surprised if the word kidnapping comes out of Drew Cain’s mouth the moment Sonny opens that door. He did not call Scout or check the boathouse. He went straight to the enemy he has been circling for weeks and decided the enemy had his daughter.

He needs the law to punish Sonny, and he needs the law to stay far away from a fresh hole in the ground. My gut tells me Ava wins that argument Tuesday, and Drew goes looking for Scout the old fashioned way.

The bigger question is what Scout does when she hears her father accused Sonny of stealing her. If I know these writers, she tells him to his face that she left because of him, and the custody war changes shape overnight. Alexis tells Sonny on Tuesday that it is time to change tactics, and a grandmother holding legal paperwork does not say that for nothing. Drew’s problem is no longer other people interfering with his daughter. His problem is his daughter, and she is done being managed.

Drew did not lose a daughter on Friday, he lost the plot. A teenage girl snuck out to kiss a boy by the water, and her father treated a phone ping like a ransom note.
