Young and the Restless Recap September 10, 2026: Phyllis Summers Runs a Con on Sharon Newman That Could Blow Up in Her Face

THIS YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS RECAP CATCHES PHYLLIS SUMMERS BEGGING MATT CLARK TO SHOW UP WHILE SHARON NEWMAN HAS NO IDEA

This Young and the Restless Recap finds Phyllis Summers staging an elaborate apology tour with Sharon Newman while secretly begging Matt Clark to make an appearance. Billy Abbott finally accepts Jack Abbott’s funding offer as Diane Jenkins learns Patty Williams has escaped, and Patty tracks Matt down at his motel with a warning he does not want to hear.

Phyllis Summers Runs Her Sharon Newman Con Right on Schedule

Before she even sets foot in Crimson Lights, Phyllis Summers calls Matt Clark to lock down their plan for his big hero moment, sounding one hundred percent certain this is the move that fixes everything. Two minutes later she is inside gushing over Sharon Newman‘s hair like a woman running for Miss Congeniality of Genoa City. Sharon is instantly suspicious, and honestly, so are we.

Phyllis backpedals into an apology for being rude earlier, then claims Matt has finally taken the hint and skipped town for good. Sharon is not buying the sudden sympathy tour and reminds her friend that nobody owes that man forgiveness. Phyllis argues all the vitriol thrown his way ate him up inside, conveniently leaving out the part where she is the one still dialing his number, very on-brand for her lately.

The confession finally slips out: she and Matt became more than friends, and she credits Nick Newman‘s influence for teaching her to actually listen for once. She begs Sharon’s forgiveness for shutting her out, and the two head to the GCAC laughing about how far they have come since the days of scratching each other’s eyes out over him. Sharon Newman still has no idea she got recruited into someone else’s scheme.

Once they are seated, Phyllis sneaks a call to Matt, practically pleading with him to get there before she chickens out. When Sharon checks in, all Phyllis can manage is a flat “Hope so,” which is either the least convincing lie or the most honest thing she has said all day.

Billy Abbott Finally Takes the Money as Patty Williams Chaos Begins

The mess migrates to Chancellor Park Café, where a regular fixture of the Young and the Restless canvas, Audra Charles, catches Billy Abbott in a rare good mood and gets a genuine compliment for beating Victoria. Audra pushes her luck, though, urging him to make the Chancellor retreat permanent and wondering aloud why a baby and Sally are not already enough for him. Billy warns her never to suggest he ranks anything above Sally Spectra again and storms off, compliment officially revoked.

Across town at Jabot, Diane Jenkins grills Jack Abbott over babying Nikki like a wounded bird and warns that Victor will absolutely use Vibrante as a weapon the second he gets bored. Their standoff gets interrupted by a call confirming Patty Williams has escaped, and Diane immediately wishes she had finished the job herself the last time she had the chance.

Jack insists he is nobody’s fool and starts sketching a plan to lure Patty into the open, which is exactly when Billy strolls in to finally accept Jack’s offer to fund his own company. He picks the single worst possible moment to walk into a room already vibrating with hostage-negotiation energy.

Patty Williams Corners Matt Clark With a Warning He Will Not Like

Over at the Riverside Motel, Patty sneaks into Matt’s room disguised in a jumpsuit that reeks of perfume strong enough to knock out a horse, and he immediately says as much. She casually explains she faked swallowing cleaning fluid to get herself hospitalized, then slipped out the second nobody was watching. Ten out of ten commitment to the bit, zero out of ten redemption arc.

Patty urges Matt to embrace his criminal instincts instead of fighting them, and when he demands to know how she found him, she admits she tailed Phyllis and mocks him for turning into a “chump.” He insists he is not scared of her. She insists he should be, warning that Phyllis has him wrapped so tight around her finger he cannot even see it happening anymore.

Matt will not hear a word against her and demands to know Patty’s real angle. She pitches a partnership, admits she needs to see Jack, and asks for a place to hide out. Matt shuts her down flat, accuses her of running an agenda, and shows her the door with a cheerful “Okeey bye!” that deserves its own highlight reel. She hands him a burner number on her way out anyway, and once she is gone, he sits there rereading Phyllis Summers’s texts, visibly rattled by everything Patty planted in his head.
