Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Daphne Rose Walton Surrogate Twist Erupts Into Backlash
Bold and the Beautiful spoilers: fans revolt before Daphne Rose Walton’s surrogate twist airs, refusing to let it absolve Steffy and Carter.
FANS REFUSE TO LET DAPHNE ROSE WALTON’S INFERTILITY FORGIVE ANYBODY
TL;DR: Readers have turned on the surrogate storyline days before it airs, refusing to let Daphne Rose Walton’s infertility become the thing that absolves Steffy and Carter. CBS confirms only that Carter makes a suggestion Thursday and that his wife cannot believe it.
The Worry Stopped Being Hypothetical This Week
Bold and the Beautiful spoilers handed the audience a surrogate storyline this week, and the audience handed it straight back. The loudest reaction circulating right now is not curiosity about what Carter proposes on Thursday. It is a flat refusal to let Daphne Rose Walton‘s infertility become the machine that forgives her husband and the woman he slept with. That is a revolt arriving days ahead of the episode that causes it.
Here is why the fear stopped being hypothetical. Li Finnegan told Daphne on July 14 that premature ovarian insufficiency had closed the door on carrying a child herself. On the August 17 and 18 episodes, a gutted Carter Walton and a furious Steffy Forrester Finnegan ended up together in the Forrester Creations office after too much to drink. On September 8 Daphne accepted the diagnosis and turned toward surrogacy. On September 11 Steffy walked into Carter’s office and told him she is pregnant.
Then the preview for this week put both halves in the same frame. Ridge Forrester asks Daphne whether it really matters who helps her get the baby she wants. Daphne answers that she wishes it were someone they knew and could trust. Carter tells Steffy he has a way out of this situation for all of us. For the wider daytime picture this week, the weekly soap rundown is worth a scan.
Do you think this story is cruel or just brave? Argue it with me at amber@soapoperamagazine.com. I read every single one.
The Objection Is Not The Twist. It Is Who Ends Up Forgiven
Strip away the mechanics and the complaint is brutally simple. If Daphne Rose Walton winds up raising the child her husband made with another woman, the show has converted her worst loss into everybody else’s absolution. She gets a baby. Carter gets a wife who never asks the question. Steffy gets to be generous instead of accountable.
The discomfort is not new either. Back in August, before a pregnancy existed on screen, readers were already warning the show not to use her infertility as the thing that pushed a good man into another woman’s arms. What changed this week is that the feared version stopped being a prediction and started being a schedule. CBS episode descriptions have Daphne hopeful about a surrogate Tuesday, Carter making a passionate plea Wednesday, and Daphne unable to believe his suggestion Thursday.
Why Are Fans Upset About The Bold And The Beautiful Surrogate Story?
Because the payoff would reward the wrong people. The objection is not that the plan is far-fetched, it is that a woman who cannot carry a child would make the biggest decision of her life while the two people guiding her hide what they did. Here is the piece almost every write-up is skipping. Daphne supplied the plan herself, and her own wish for a carrier she knows and trusts is the exact sentence that is about to be used against her.
None Of The Ugly Part Is Confirmed Yet
That needs saying plainly, because plenty of what is circulating is being written as though it already happened. No episode has aired in which anyone asks Steffy to carry a child for Daphne Rose Walton. CBS has confirmed only that Carter makes a suggestion and that his wife is stunned by it. Paternity has never been established on screen either, and Steffy’s husband John Finnegan, known on canvas as Finn, is very much still in the picture.
The second half of the reader argument is the more interesting call. A large share of them do not believe Steffy could surrender a baby at all, and expect another paternity swerve rather than a tidy ending where Daphne Rose Walton walks away happy. Friday already has Steffy caught off guard and Finn turning to Taylor for support, which is not the shape of a plan running smoothly. My gut says this arrangement does not survive October.
Call it in the comments: brilliant soap, or unbelievably cruel to Daphne?
More scheming, more fallout, all of it right here in our Bold and the Beautiful coverage.
The Baby Cannot Be The Apology
My take is not generous. A soap is allowed to be cruel to its characters, that is the job. What it is not allowed to do is take the one loss a woman cannot fix and spend it settling everybody else’s debts, then film her saying thank you. That is not a twist, that is a bill being passed to the wrong person.
And the worst of it is that she would say yes. Daphne is the only figure in this whole mess acting in good faith, which in daytime is less a virtue than a warning label. Come tell me who you are still rooting for on our Facebook page, because the split on this one is the widest I have seen all year.
QUICK ANSWERS
Is Steffy really going to be Carter and Daphne’s surrogate? Nothing about that has aired. CBS episode descriptions confirm only that Carter makes a suggestion on Thursday and that Daphne cannot believe it. Everything beyond that, including a faked embryo transfer or Steffy handing over the child, is speculation with no network or on-screen confirmation behind it.
Who is the father of Steffy’s baby on Bold and the Beautiful? No paternity has been established on screen. Steffy is married to Finn and slept with Carter once in August, so both men remain possible. No test has aired and CBS has confirmed nothing, which makes every paternity claim in circulation right now speculation rather than reported fact.
What is wrong with Daphne on Bold and the Beautiful? Li Finnegan diagnosed Daphne with premature ovarian insufficiency on the July 14 episode, meaning she cannot carry a child herself. Daphne refused to accept it for weeks and finally came to terms with the diagnosis on September 8, then turned toward finding a surrogate.
