TL;DR: GH’s Monet Mitchell rolled into Port Charles with a grudge against her big sister, Jordan. What if the fastest way to settle it is taking the client Alexis refused, Jenz Sidwell, and dragging Jordan’s husband into the fight?

Monet Didn’t Move Here For The Scenery

Monet Mitchell came to Port Charles with a grudge packed in her carry-on. Her very first words to her big sister were a crack about the scar on her face, “Is that a new look?” When Jordan Ashford asked straight out whether the move was about her, Monet dodged, then told her that living in the same town was “the least of what you deserve.” That’s not a family reunion. That’s an opening statement.

She’s also good, which makes her twice as dangerous. The former Los Angeles attorney, now at Miller & Davis, marched into the Quartermaine mansion, went toe to toe with Tracy Quartermaine over a custody fight and walked out with exactly what her client wanted. Anyone who can make Tracy blink isn’t going to be scared of a little family drama. She’s going to use it.

Jordan already told Michael Corinthos she doubts sisterhood is what Monet is after. So what is? A woman nursing that much resentment doesn’t need to hurt her sister directly. She only needs to find the case that hurts Jordan the most.

The Client Nobody Else Will Touch

That case might already be sitting in her firm’s lobby. Jenz Sidwell begged Alexis Davis to represent him, swearing he signed his plea deal under duress and that Sonny Corinthos was trying to have him killed. Alexis shut him down cold. Then, like clockwork, Sonny’s associate and two other prisoners jumped Sidwell in his cell.

Suddenly the man everyone brushed off as paranoid has bruises to back up his story. He needs a lawyer who isn’t afraid of Sonny, isn’t buddies with half the town, and wants a splashy case to make her name. Alexis works at the same firm where Monet Mitchell recently hung her shingle. It would be the easiest handoff in the world.

Curtis Walked Right Into The Crossfire

Here’s where it gets personal. Curtis Ashford is Sidwell’s cellmate. He warned Sidwell that an attack was coming, begged him to go into protective custody, then came back at the exact wrong moment and got dragged into the brawl. When the dust settled, both men were on the floor, and the attackers left a message: “Sonny Corinthos owes you this. And more.”

That makes Curtis the star witness in any case Sidwell brings. Imagine Monet Mitchell calmly putting her own brother-in-law on the stand while Jordan sits in the gallery, knowing every answer could wreck his shot at parole. Jordan already feared Sidwell would come after Curtis to punish her for betraying him. She never imagined her own sister would hand Sidwell the weapon.

Sonny Doesn’t Play Nice With Lawyers

Taking this case wouldn’t only put Monet across the courtroom from her sister. It would put her in Sonny’s crosshairs. He’s supposedly gone legit, but he told his brother, Ric Lansing, that he keeps an eye on the families of several prisoners in exchange for them watching Sidwell. A man who runs that kind of network behind bars isn’t going to sit quietly while a hungry newcomer drags his name through a courtroom.

Monet may think she’s walking into a family feud. She’s actually walking into a war zone, and she doesn’t know the terrain yet.
