SONNY JUST MADE AVERY CORINTHOS A TEENAGER, AND A NEW FACE COULD BE NEXT

TL;DR: On the October 8 episode, Sonny said Avery Corinthos is a teenager, and recast buzz followed fast. Nothing is announced yet. Here’s the age math, why Ava’s Pentonville play gets riskier with a teen in the house, and the family tree almost everyone got wrong.

Sonny Aged Up His Daughter With One Line

Sonny Corinthos just aged up his own daughter, and the Avery Corinthos recast buzz started the second the words left his mouth. On the Thursday, October 8 episode of General Hospital, Ava Jerome showed up at Sonny’s without Avery and told him he wouldn’t get near their girl after what happened at Pentonville. Later, with Carly Spencer, Sonny said he wouldn’t push it, because Avery is a teenager and already has enough problems.

Here’s the catch. Avery was born on screen in November 2014. In real time she’s 11 and turns 12 next month, so that one word already bumps her a year, at least. Ava and Grace Scarola, the twins who have played her since December 2014, are about 12 themselves.

So is a new face coming? ABC hasn’t said a word, and no trade outlet has a casting item. The loudest claim comes from a gossip site citing unnamed insiders who swear a new Avery debuts in the not-too-distant future. Until someone puts a name on that, it’s casting buzz, not news.

GH Already Pulled This Move on Scout This Summer

If a recast feels sudden, check the calendar. GH aged up Scout Cain this year and handed the role to 16-year-old Kayden Brenna Tokarski, who debuted July 20. We tracked that Scout handoff as it happened. Michael’s daughter Amelia got a new face on July 15, too.

Both girls dropped out of sight before they came back older. Avery hasn’t been seen on screen in a long time, and her parents have been fighting over her in rooms she’s never in. That’s how a soap clears the runway.

Is Avery Being Recast on General Hospital?

Not officially. As of Thursday, October 15, nobody has announced a recast, an actress or an airdate for Avery Corinthos. But the dialogue has already done the aging for the writers, and GH tapes only about six weeks ahead. If I know these writers, a teenage Avery could walk through Sonny’s door before the holidays.

Ava Is Hiding Avery Behind a Frame Job She Built

This is where a teenage Avery gets dangerous. Ava’s excuse is Pentonville, the prison attack all of Port Charles pins on Sonny. Viewers know better: on September 30, Ava and Drew Cain were exposed as the pair who set the whole thing up, just as we suspected when Drew looked like the man framing Sonny. So Ava is keeping Avery Corinthos from her father over a crime Ava helped stage.

The fuse was lit weeks ago. On September 23, Sonny pulled Avery out of school without telling Ava, and she stormed his house. The next day she vowed to bring him down, and that smirk never left her face. On October 8, Sonny warned her that if she doesn’t bring Avery next Saturday, she won’t like what he does. A little girl gets passed between parents, but a teenager asks why.

The Family Tree Almost Everyone Got Wrong

Some coverage insists Avery isn’t related to Danny Morgan or Scout, and some calls them second cousins, and both are wrong. Ava is the sister of the late Julian Jerome, and Julian was Sam McCall‘s father. That makes Sam Avery’s first cousin, and Danny and Scout her first cousins once removed. Rocco Falconeri isn’t a cousin at all. He’s Dante Falconeri‘s son, which makes him Avery’s nephew.

Now look at who knows what. Scout is the one teenager who overheard Ava, Drew and their hired man on September 30, and she’s sitting on it. The girl holding the truth about Avery’s mother is Avery’s own cousin, and she’s kissing Avery’s nephew.

Where a Teenage Avery Fits Now That Charlotte Is Gone

Charlotte Cassadine left for boarding school in Maine on September 28, and the teen table lost its schemer. Don’t be surprised if a teenage Avery Corinthos slides into that seat, with her mother’s nerve and her father’s temper. She’d also land smack in the middle of Rocco and Scout’s romance, family to both of them.

Viewers already have ideas. On one fan message board, posters caught Sonny’s line within a day and pegged Avery and Scout as kindred spirits who could trauma bond over their parents. Keep an eye on our two weeks of General Hospital spoilers for the moment Avery walks back in.

A Teenage Avery Is Ava Jerome’s Worst Nightmare

Our money says the recast is coming, and Ava should be the one sweating. A child can be kept home. A teenager with a phone, a cousin who knows too much and a father on the other side of town can’t.

Team Ava says she’s protecting her daughter. Team Sonny says she’s using her. Pick a side on our Facebook page.
