GENERAL HOSPITAL RECAP HAS RIC BUGGING HUDSON’S BRIEFCASE

TL;DR: This General Hospital Recap catches Ric Lansing sneaking a listening device into Hudson Parker’s briefcase after Sonny Corinthos goes hunting for the man’s weak spot, Willow Tait and Lulu Spencer escalating a kitchen quarrel into a libel threat, Monet Mitchell plotting a publicity comeback for Curtis Ashford while Willow crashes the strategy session, and Josslyn Jacks dodging a Steinmauer sentence from William Baines over those piers.

Ric Bugs Hudson’s Briefcase

The Corinthos family has never been famous for subtlety, and Thursday’s episode did nothing to repair the reputation. It opened at the compound, where Ric Lansing informed Sonny Corinthos that a private investigator was already combing through Hudson Parker’s life, then asked the question that matters: were they guarding Sonny’s turf, or were they coming for Joss too?

Sonny, a man freshly retired from eliminating people, ruled out anything permanent and settled on blackmail and threats, which is basically murder’s lighter, more affordable cousin. All they needed was an Achilles heel. He also fretted that Joss planned to turn everything she knew about him into a weapon, then admitted that he was a stranger to her in every way that mattered, a confession so sad it deserved a violin and a long walk on the pier.

The gym came next, the single worst place to stage a villain’s origin story, and it started sweetly enough. Chasedropped a weight loudly enough to announce his foul mood, a technique that has replaced actual conversation among men everywhere, and Hudson took the hint and guessed the problem involved Phoebe.

Chase gushed that she had always seemed like his own and called her a miracle, which is a touching thing to say to the man the rest of us all but know is her biological father. Hudson, who clearly skipped the subtext lesson, offered sympathy about the split from Brook Lynn, and the two agreed that life works out in unpredictable ways. Truer words were never spoken near a rack of dumbbells.

Mac Scorpio turned up with fatherly concern and a gentle nudge about the detective’s exam Chase had skipped registering for. Chase pointed out that Phoebe came first, and Mac nodded like a man who had heard that speech before and approved of every syllable.

Enter Ric, strolling in like he had rehearsed the line in a mirror, to announce that Sonny owned the gym and Hudson’s membership was revoked. Yes, Sonny owns a gym. It was probably the least shady item in his portfolio. Hudson dared Ric to evict him personally, Joss stormed between them to accuse the Corinthos side of sore-loser tactics, and Ric called her vendetta childish, dropped the mic, and stalked off.

Joss and Hudson bonded over Ric’s weaselly ways, although Hudson did float the idea that she was exploiting her place in Sonny’s life. Joss called that good CEO behavior and shooed him toward the showers, an efficient way to end a moral debate. Mac then sat down with her to beg her not to martyr herself over Sonny, and she nodded the way people nod at weather reports.

While she ignored wisdom, Ric, who had exited so dramatically, crept back into the changing area, where he slid a bug into Hudson’s briefcase. Yes, Hudson brought a briefcase to the gym. That detail alone explains why somebody hired a private investigator.

By the time Chase and Hudson emerged from their showers, Ric was tuned in, savoring their chat about Sonny and himself. We still don’t know exactly what was said, but we know who heard it, and the man has a flair for the dramatic exit and an even bigger flair for the dramatic return.

Do you think Hudson will ever find that bug, or is Ric about to learn every secret the man owns? Email us your theories at amber@soapoperamagazine.com, we want every wild guess.

Willow and Lulu Trade Threats

Over at the Quartermaine family home, Willow Tait strode into the kitchen and found Lulu Spencer waiting like a very determined houseplant. Willow reminded her that all communication was supposed to run through their lawyers, which Lulu treated as a polite suggestion, and the bickering started before the door finished swinging.

Willow insisted she needed a courtroom to restore her reputation, an impressive position for a woman who had privately confessed the whole Drew saga to her own cousin. Lulu, unmoved, swore Sidwell had been perfectly lucid during the interview, and Willow, the former nurse, predicted that a jury would take a dimmer view of his clarity.

Lulu begged her to abandon the suit, and Willow agreed, provided a full retraction ran. Lulu countered that libel suits rarely succeed and the bad publicity would sink them both anyway, then hinted that discovery might turn up some unflattering evidence. Willow answered that she knew plenty about damage and would happily return the favor, perhaps by reducing Lulu to a gossip blog. Lulu offered a correction, Willow called it insufficient, and Lulu declared she would never compromise her integrity, a line that landed oddly coming from a woman who had borrowed Felicia’s badge, slipped into scrubs, and sneaked into a patient’s room.

Joe Fitzpatrick wandered in at the worst possible moment to ask Willow about Jack Brennan’s disappearance. She dismissed the story as fiction, accused him of harassment, and refused to say another word without counsel. On her way out she warned Lulu that the damages she wanted now carried an extra zero.

Lulu assured Joe that every word of her article was true, and he filled her in on Jack’s WSB claims before deciding to scrutinize the man’s final movements. The irony of a detective hunting a missing person who is buried in the nature preserve beside the Quartermaine property is the kind of thing you simply can’t write.

Monet Plots a Publicity Comeback

At General Hospital, Monet Mitchell dropped in on Curtis Ashford, who felt stranded in limbo and dreaded going back to prison. Monet stayed serenely confident, which is what lawyers say right before the invoice.

Her plan called for a publicity win before she filed the appeal, specifically a sit-down interview celebrating how Curtis saved Sidwell’s life, because nothing softens a judge like a good headline. She floated Aurora as the place to tell the story, but Curtis vetoed it to keep Jordan out of the circus, which gave Monet an opening to editorialize about her sister’s scars in a tone nobody requested.

Casting around for another storyteller, Curtis suggested Drew Cain, with the helpful warning that Drew might happily stab her in the back, a ringing endorsement if ever there was one.

Then Willow barged in, cheerful about his new appeal lawyer and ready to report that the governor had refused to budge on his transfer. Monet blamed the fallout from the article, Willow announced the libel suit, and Monet bluntly noted the public already believed the worst, so neither of them could afford the association. Willow wished them luck and left, and Monet observed that she apparently hadn’t liked her. Curtis, who had once bargained with Willow for a pardon, watched his pipeline to the governor dry up in real time.

Monet closed by promising to deliver the appeal and found a silver lining in a return to Pentonville, since a sympathetic inmate polls better than a comfortable one. That is the sort of optimism you only get from billable hours.

Joss Talks Her Way Out

Joss had an equally eventful day on the WSB side, where Baines accused her of ignoring a direct instruction and dangled a stretch in Steinmauer. She insisted she bought the piers for JJE’s benefit, exactly as instructed, a claim that would hold more water if viewers hadn’t watched her break into an electrical closet to rig the auction.

Joss asked who would steer the company should he ship her off, then pitched her plan, and Baines applauded her chutzpah, agreed to let it slide, and warned that she would have to abandon the whole thing on command. They also discussed Jack’s disappearance and the article, and Baines reported that the WSB denied the drug existed, which would be more persuasive if Anna Devane hadn’t recently walked the PCPD through that exact cocktail.
