KELLY SULLIVAN’S ARRIVAL COULD BLOW OPEN DYLAN’S HIDDEN PAST

TL;DR: General Hospital and The Young and the Restless alum Kelly Sullivan is joining The Bold and the Beautiful in a brand-new role. She’ll play Darcy Dylan, the mother of Melissa Dylan (Sydney Bullock), landing in L.A. right as her daughter gets tangled deeper in the Forrester-Spencer feud.

A Soap Vet Is Coming Home to Daytime

Kelly Sullivan is heading back to daytime, and this time she’s putting down roots in Los Angeles. TV Insider reports Kelly Sullivan has joined the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful as Darcy Dylan, the mother of series regular Melissa Dylan.

Sullivan has already started filming, and her first episode as Darcy is set to air Thursday, August 27. According to the outlet, Darcy “arrives in Los Angeles as her daughter finds herself caught in the increasingly tense conflict between the Forrester and Spencer families,” which tracks with exactly where Dylan’s storyline has been headed.

Kelly Sullivan’s Daytime Resume Runs Deep

Kelly Sullivan is no stranger to soap fans. She spent two years on General Hospital originating the dual role of Kate Howard and her alternate personality, Connie Falconeri, a Daytime Emmy-nominated run that ended with Connie’s shocking murder. From there, Sullivan crossed over to The Young and the Restless as Sage Warner, another Daytime Emmy-nominated turn that kept her in Genoa City for nearly two years. Between soap gigs, she’s stayed busy with primetime credits including Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Tyler Perry’s Too Close to Home.

Landing on B&B means Sullivan has now worked on three of the five major daytime soaps, and this new chapter puts her right in the middle of one of the show’s messiest current storylines.

Dylan’s World Just Got a Lot More Crowded

Melissa Dylan has spent the past several weeks caught between Electra Forrester and Will Spencer, and things are not exactly stable. Dylan admitted to RJ Forrester that she spent the night with Will, Electra found out and slapped her over it, and by the start of this week Electra was telling Will flat out that “the Forresters and Spencers don’t mix.” The show even teased that Dylan is about to set her sights directly on the Spencer family.

Enter Darcy. A mother arriving in the middle of all that chaos raises more questions than it answers. Is she coming to smooth things over, or does she have her own agenda? Does Dylan even know her mother is coming to town? None of that has been confirmed, but the timing alone suggests Darcy’s arrival is not a coincidence.

Fresh Face, Familiar Chaos

Whatever Darcy’s real motive turns out to be, her entrance drops her straight into a war that’s already claimed one friendship and one relationship. Between Electra’s heartbreak, Will’s guilt, and Dylan’s own tangled loyalties, there’s no shortage of material for a new mother figure to complicate.
