Two Shots At The Gold, One Door Held Wide Open! B&B’s Lawrence Saint-Victor Rewrites Emmy History
B&B star Lawrence Saint-Victor is nominated for two Daytime Emmys, acting and writing, and he is talking about why diverse voices matter.
LAWRENCE SAINT-VICTOR LANDS A DAYTIME EMMY FIRST WITH TWO NOMINATIONS
TL;DR: B&B’s Lawrence Saint-Victor, aka Carter Walton, is nominated twice at the 53rd Daytime Emmys, for acting and for writing, and he is sharing why diverse voices matter in daytime, per Ebony.

A Lawyer, A Writer, And A Daytime First
Lawrence Saint-Victor has spent more than a decade in a Forrester Creations power suit as Carter Walton, the family’s polished attorney and top executive. Since 2015, though, he has also sat in the writers’ room, shaping the stories his co-stars perform.
Now the Emmys have spotted both talents at once. He is contending for supporting actor and with the writing team, which makes him the very first Black man to land both in a single year. Writing nods in 2023 and again in 2024 make this a promotion.

He Plans To Keep The Door Open
Gratitude is the feeling that keeps rising to the top for Lawrence Saint-Victor. He credits the Black actors and writers who spent years pushing a door ajar so he could step through, and he feels duty-bound to keep it from swinging shut.
His point as a writer is sharp: representation cannot live solely before the lens, because the people shaping the dialogue matter as much as the people delivering it. Black characters, he says, deserve every shade, from romantic to funny to flawed to heroic.
He admits that submitting your own name feels exposed, yet he considers himself a winner already for creating opportunities for others.
A Big Year For Black Voices In Soaps
Beyond the Gates earned 15 nominations, and Karla Mosley is in the lead actress race. Shemar Moore is back on Y&R, too.
On screen, Carter is knee-deep in a surrogacy scheme with Steffy Forrester and Daphne Rose. Off screen, the man playing him has earned every cheer.
