Holden has London plans to visit his dad, while Stephanie is keeping a spicy secret of her own: she’s been sneaking around with Nate Hastings, Malcolm’s adopted son. She and Nate may have rehearsed how to break it to Holden, but nobody has rehearsed breaking it to Malcolm.

The Emmy-winning star pointed out that none of his characters have truly bitten the dust, then happily owned the one time Malcolm sort of did. Longtime viewers remember the collapsing bridge in Kenya that left Malcolm presumed dead, and his miraculous stroll back into town years later with a survival story only a soap could get away with.

For Shemar Moore, every trip back is a thank-you to the people who raised him as an actor. He credited the late Kristoff St. John, whose Neil Winters was Malcolm’s big brother, along with Victoria Rowell, the original Drucilla Winters, and Tonya Lee Williams, who played Olivia Winters. That cast, he said, is where he did all his growing up, and he wouldn’t have a career without the soap.

Hondo’s caseload means a full-time return isn’t realistic, but Shemar Moore says any show he has called home can count on him showing up whenever it asks.
