BURROWS BADGERS NEWMANS IN THIS YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS RECAP

TL;DR: This Young and the Restless Recap catches Detective Burrows crashing a Newman brother squabble to grill Nick Newman and Adam Newman about Matt Clark, plus Matt Clark making a silent call to Sharon Newman, Phyllis Summers revealing she owns the wedding venue of Sally Spectra and Billy Abbott, Billy counting down to his vows, and Kyle Abbott and Victoria Newman plotting a fake feud.

Burrows Badgers the Newman Brothers

Adam Newman bumped into Nick Newman at Society, and Nick promptly decided his brother had tailed him there. Adam did not deny caring, which is the Newman version of a confession. He informed Nick that saying “I’m fine” has never once ended a family intervention, and Nick groaned that he was drowning in lectures. Adam reminded him that worry is simply what love sounds like when it has no manners.

Nick pointed out that he had already given the police his statement about the dealer, so the conversation should have been over. Enter Detective Burrows, who strolled up like a man who had never been invited anywhere and had never once let that stop him. The brothers called it harassment. Burrows called it a follow-up, which is what harassment is called when it carries a badge.

The real reason for the visit was a car wreck involving Matt Clark. Burrows made it clear that he did not swallow the reformed-and-repentant act any more than the Newmans did. Then he floated a theory: nobody crashes a car alone when they have a history of picking the worst possible company. Nick conceded that the passenger was probably Patty Williams, because of course it was.

Matt Clark Dials Dead Air

Meanwhile, at his rundown motel, Matt Clark rang Sharon Newman and breathed into the phone like a man auditioning for a thriller. Sharon’s eyes darted around as if the furniture might confess. Matt hung up, announced to the empty room that he wanted no part of this circus, and then spent several minutes arguing with himself about the well wishes he had handed out. The debate went nowhere, and neither did his headache.

He flopped onto the bed and demanded to know who these people thought they were, passing judgment on him. The only reply was a thick silence, which Matt took as proof that everybody was against him. His chosen villain was Sharon. He replayed her order to clear out of Genoa City, then remembered that she had confessed to some ugly chapters of her own and still got forgiven. For one hopeful moment he figured she of all people understood do-overs.

That mood did not last. Matt decided she would happily tap dance on his tombstone with a plate of oatmeal raisin treats. The exit plan had failed, he was back in town, and the era of playing the good guy was officially canceled.

Later, Nick dropped by Sharon’s cottage with word of the wreck. Sharon connected the mystery call to Matt in about two seconds. She doubted he would be bold enough to return now, but Nick had zero faith in the man and said so.

Phyllis Summers Owns the Place

Inside the GCAC, Audra Charles asked Coco Spectra for her take on Billy Abbott, and Coco called him sweet. Right on cue, Phyllis Summers swooped in to welcome the newcomer and promised that Genoa City would dazzle her into staying forever. She added that the Abbott sparkle had faded fast once she became one of them.

Then Phyllis dropped the bomb: she owned the venue for the wedding. It would host the A-listers, with a few leftover seats for the less glittery locals. Audra was informed that her days were numbered, though Phyllis tossed in a bit of hope. Arabesque was expanding, so a little kindness toward her would be wise.

When Phyllis floated off, Coco asked about a mysterious “ice bucket” wish and Sally Spectra clammed up. Billy arrived, learned the news, and wished Phyllis luck with it this time. Phyllis bristled, the two swore they meant every kind word, and Audra advised her to polish her people skills for the sake of her reviews. Phyllis groaned that the advice was ignored before the words were out.

Daniel Romalotti collected his mother from the wreckage while Sally and Billy traded sweet nothings. Sally confessed that his gaze still made her flutter, and Billy said nothing in his life had felt as certain as she did. At the table, Daniel proposed that the two of them might team up. Phyllis gasped, repeated “okay” like a woman who had won the lottery, and hoped he missed her desperately. Daniel explained that she needed protection from her own instincts, and she hugged him tight anyway.

Billy Abbott Counts Down to Vows

Earlier, Billy stopped by to see Jack Abbott and gushed about his relief. Sally and he had talked the baby into staying put, and no force on earth would keep him from the altar tomorrow. Over coffee they discussed Coco, and Jack gleefully noted that nearly two decades of fatherhood would keep Billy’s ego trimmed.

Billy mentioned that the previous night with Cane Ashby had been oddly polite, and Jack assured him he was cherished. Everyone had worried about him, the older Abbott said, and Billy deserved some joy. Billy muttered that saying it aloud was asking for trouble.

Jack told him to quit casting himself as the family disaster, and he reminded him of how smoothly life had run since Billy stepped back from Chancellor. Billy swore he had no plans to wreck it. Jack promised to hold him accountable, and Billy declared that Sally would haul his chaos era into the history books.

Kyle and Victoria Fake a Feud

Kyle Abbott and Victoria Newman woke up in their hideaway and realized the night had gone on far longer than planned. Victoria shrieked that it must never repeat, scrambled to find her phone, and sighed with relief at the sight of zero messages. A moment later she amended her position. The hookups could continue, but sleepovers were off the table, and cuddling was not on the menu.

Kyle mocked her sudden devotion to discretion and pitched a cover story. They would pretend to loathe each other in public, then burn it off behind closed doors. It was a plan with the structural integrity of wet tissue paper, which made it perfect for Genoa City.

Out at the family ranch, Victoria updated Nikki Newman on business, and Nikki hoped her daughter had enjoyed the evening, given that her teens would soon be home. They moved on to the Vibrante marketing plan, and Nikki wondered whether Victoria regretted bowing out. Victoria explained that the Spectra-Charles arrangement meant Newman could not supply the press, so pushing Kyle’s Jabot connection might be useful. Nikki would adore taking a swing at Jabot. Then she vented about Diane Jenkins, Victoria vented about Kyle, and neither noticed the irony.

Back at the family estate, Jack spotted that Kyle looked like a man who had skipped sleep, and he thanked him for pitching in on the roast. The family admired his work ethic, Jack said, and urged him to go find a life. Kyle promised to give the idea some thought.

Genoa City Runs on Bad Ideas

Young and the Restless wasted no time stacking trouble on top of trouble. Burrows turned a sibling spat into a police interview, Matt made a call that said everything by saying nothing, and Phyllis bought herself a front-row seat to Sally and Billy’s wedding. Billy promised Jack he would behave, while Kyle and Victoria schemed their way toward a fake rivalry and a very real problem.
