EJ left town expecting things to stay under control. What he found instead was absolute chaos.

Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) was supposed to hold things down. Instead, she unleashed her estranged husband Dimitri von Leuschner (Peter Porte) right into the middle of Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) and Javi Hernandez’s (Al Calderon) wedding disaster. The fallout was spectacular, and EJ is demanding answers.

Gwen’s Week From Hell Just Got Worse

Let’s be honest. Gwen was already having a terrible time before EJ got back. On January 20th, her credit card got declined at a bookstore while Julie watched and enjoyed every second of the humiliation. Later that same day, Dimitri admitted he had cut her off financially. Gwen retaliated by dumping beer and fries on him at the pub, but the damage was done. She went from wealthy schemer to broke liability in record time.

Now EJ is back and he sees exactly what happened while he was comforting Sydney. Gwen Rizczech let Dimitri cause maximum destruction. She failed to contain him. She failed to protect the DiMera interests. And EJ does not tolerate failure from anyone, especially not from someone he trusted to manage things in his absence.

Spoilers say EJ “blasts” or “lays into” Gwen the moment he returns. This is not going to be a polite conversation. EJ is in full control mode, and Gwen is squarely in his crosshairs.

Is Gwen About to Fight Back?

Here is where things get interesting. Spoilers for Friday, January 30th say Gwen “goes on the offensive.” She is not just going to sit there and take EJ’s fury. The weekly preview shows Gwen Rizczech making a mysterious phone call, asking someone if they “still hate the von Leuschners.” The voice on the other end responds with one chilling word: “More.”

Speculation is swirling about who Gwen is recruiting. Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel) is confirmed to return during the week of January 26th, and fans are connecting the dots. Vivian has history. Vivian has grudges. And Vivian would absolutely love to help destroy the von Leuschner name if it served her purposes.

If Gwen is reaching out to Vivian, this could shift the entire power dynamic. EJ might think he is in control, but Gwen has proven she does not go down without a fight.

The Bigger Picture in Salem

The EJ and Gwen showdown is not happening in a vacuum. The weekly preview also teases that forensic results will confirm the bones found in the DiMera crypt belong to Stefano DiMera. That revelation is going to shake the entire family. Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) reportedly rejects EJ’s sympathy when the news drops, suggesting the siblings are about to be at war.

Meanwhile, Gwen is shown with Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) discussing a secret project that appears to involve bringing someone back. Classic Days resurrection territory. Whatever Rolf is cooking up, Gwen is standing way too close to the blast zone.
