Klaus was on a mission this week as he sought an opportunity to silence the man who gave his description to the cops. But when Klaus finally confronted Liam Selejko, JJ stepped between them with his weapon drawn. Shawn arrived as backup. Klaus fired. Shawn fired back. And Bo and Hope’s son is the one who ended up on the ground.

The shooting is nonfatal. But nonfatal does not mean without consequence.

Belle Has to Break the News to Jada

Here is where the emotional devastation begins. Belle Black is the one who delivers the news about the shooting to Jada Hunter. Shawn’s ex-wife has to tell the woman he is falling for that he has been shot.

Jada is currently dating Theo Carver. But spoiler sources have been pointing toward a breakup for weeks, and this bullet could be the catalyst. The show teased earlier this year that Shawn Brady and Jada would find their way back to each other “in the wake of tragedy.” If that is not a neon sign pointing directly at this park, nothing is. And speculation suggests Theo actually wants Gabi, which means Jada may be about to realize the man she truly has feelings for is the one in a hospital bed.

Belle is standing right in the middle of all of this. She interrogated EJ earlier this week. But nothing resets your priorities like watching the father of your child fight for his life.

Friday: Shawn Wants the Truth From JJ

The fact that Shawn is pressing JJ for answers by Friday tells us something went wrong beyond the bullet. Did JJ hesitate? Did Klaus escape? Was there a tactical failure that put Shawn directly in the line of fire?

JJ has his own complicated history with shootings. Years ago, he shot Theo in the line of duty and the guilt nearly destroyed him. Now JJ is in another shooting with Shawn Brady bleeding beside him. The Days of Our Lives writers know exactly what emotional territory they are revisiting.

EJ DiMera is currently under arrest, but he has something nobody else in Salem has: the ability to bring the dead back to life. His secret resurrection project brought Lexie Carver out of the grave. Paulina Price has been sitting on that secret and lying to Abe about it.

One spoiler source was blunt regarding the shooting when they reported, “Tis bad, but arrested EJ could save the day.” If Shawn’s condition deteriorates, will EJ dangle that technology in front of Belle? EJ never does anything without leverage. A desperate Belle would be the ultimate bargaining chip for a man who collects debts like Stefano collected chess pieces.

Shawn Came Back to Get His Life Together

Shawn Brady returned to Salem sober. He made peace with Bo. He signed divorce papers with Belle. He partnered with JJ. He found Jada. He was doing the work.

And now a stray bullet from Vivian Alamain’s cleanup operation has put all of that in jeopardy because Liam Selejko could not stop picking up criminal side gigs and Klaus could not leave a loose end alone.

Bo and Hope did not raise this man to go out like this. But Salem has never cared what anybody’s parents wanted. A shot cop, a torn ex wife, a woman who might finally realize whom she loves, and a DiMera with resurrection technology in his back pocket is about as dramatic as this show gets. We can’t wait!
