That gap between Rafe’s promise and real-world medical timelines is where the ISA operation is most likely to fall apart, and EJ does not need to do a single thing to widen it.

EJ’s sample is already in Cat’s hands. The one thing that could potentially help Catherina is sitting right there, and the only thing standing between Cat using it is a promise she made under professional duress to a man who has already told her, clearly, that he does not fully trust her instincts.
