Days Of Our Lives
An Impossible Choice! Will Cat Greene Turn EJ DiMera In Or Try To Save Her Mother on DAYS?
EJ handed Cat Greene the one thing she cannot refuse. Rafe said no. Her mother’s life is on the line. Can she keep that promise?
CAT GREENE MADE A PROMISE TO RAFE AND EVERYONE KNOWS SHE CANNOT KEEP IT
TL;DR: On Days of Our Lives, EJ DiMera just offered Cat Greene a sample of his experimental drug, the one that could slow Catherina Meleounis Greene’s dementia, and Rafe Hernandez told her she absolutely cannot use it. Cat promised she would hand it over. She lied to a federal law enforcement officer. And Salem has watched this woman operate long enough to know exactly what she is going to do next.
The Deal Rafe Should Have Seen Coming
EJ DiMera has been running the DiMera empire long enough to know that the most effective trap is not the one you set with money or power. It is the one you set with hope. He offered Cat Greene a sample of his experimental drug when she asked, knowing full well the FDA will not greenlight the medication in time to do Catherina Meleounis Greene any good through official channels. He is not being generous. He is making sure he controls her.
Cat has been undercover inside the DiMera orbit for months. She drugged EJ without ISA authorization. She has operated on instinct and nerve and a personal investment in this mission that goes well beyond professional obligation. She is not a trained field agent, which is precisely what makes her so effective and so dangerously exposed at the same time.
Rafe Hernandez saw it immediately. He reminded Cat she went rogue when she drugged EJ the first time. He laid out every way this could cost her: her credibility, her standing, her entire future with the ISA. He threatened her career in the middle of an active operation and meant every word. And then, he offered a compromise. Hand over the drug sample. In return, he would make sure her mother was moved to the top of the clinical trials list.
Cat looked him in the eye and she promised.

What That Promise Actually Costs
Here is the impossible math of Cat’s situation on Days of Our Lives. Rafe’s offer is real but it is not fast. Clinical trials move on their own timeline regardless of who pushed whose name to the top. The FDA approval process for EJ’s drug does not care about ISA favors or Rafe’s good intentions or how urgent the situation feels from a Salem hospital room. Catherina is deteriorating now, not in six months or a year when a trial might finally reach her. That gap between Rafe’s promise and real-world medical timelines is where the ISA operation is most likely to fall apart, and EJ does not need to do a single thing to widen it.
EJ’s sample is already in Cat’s hands. The one thing that could potentially help Catherina is sitting right there, and the only thing standing between Cat using it is a promise she made under professional duress to a man who has already told her, clearly, that he does not fully trust her instincts.
EJ almost certainly knows this. This is a man who resurrected Lexie Carver in a lab pod and has been quietly fielding inquiries from people offering ten figures for access to that same technology. He understands leverage at a molecular level. This is EJ DiMera playing the long game.
And Then There Is the Other Complication
The drug is not the only thing Cat Greene is trying to manage right now. There is a real and growing question on Days of Our Lives about whether Cat Greene’s feelings for EJ have drifted across a line she did not intend to cross. She has told Rafe, more than once, that she can handle EJ. She has said it with the kind of certainty that starts to look less like confidence and more like something she is in the middle of convincing herself of.
EJ is charming in the specific way that men who know exactly what they are doing tend to be charming. He is attentive. He is intelligent. He creates proximity and then rewards it. And Cat Greene is operating inside a situation where Catherina’s life and her professional future and her own feelings are all pulling in different directions at once.
The question is not whether something gives. Something always gives in Salem. The question is which thing goes first: the ISA operation she has spent months building, or the walls she has been keeping up around a man she came here to destroy.
Can Cat hold both of these things together, or does something have to give? Would you use the drug? Sound off below because this one has no right answer.
