Rewind the tape, because this is hardly Diane’s first locked room. Years ago, the Abbott pool house went up in flames with her inside it, and she crawled out of an inferno meant to end her. They tried to pin the arson on Phyllis. Diane survived the smoke and turned the whole thing into leverage. Fire could not finish her.

That is the pattern nobody in Genoa City seems to learn. You can corner Diane, you can light the match, you can lock the door, and she finds the seam in the wall. The woman treats catastrophe like a negotiation.

They Buried Her Once, and She Came Back to Throne Herself

Then there is the death. Not a metaphor, an actual death certificate. Diane faked her demise with help, vanished to Los Angeles, and lived for years as a ghost while Jack and her own son believed her gone. Even before that, a brutal night by the river ended with her truly killed, the case closed, the family moved on.

And yet here she sits, married into the Abbott dynasty, frontburner, very much alive. A woman who has been pronounced dead and STILL clawed her way back to the head of the table does not fear a man with a clipboard and a guest room. She has out-survived the grave itself.

We predict the rescue party arrives to find the heavy lifting already done. Maybe Diane plays Laurence until he hands her the keys himself. Maybe that stolen phone does what Jack’s whole investigation could not.
