DIANE JENKINS TURNS THE TABLES ON THE MAN WHO TRAPPED HER

TL;DR: Next week on The Young and the Restless, Diane Jenkins flips the script on Laurence by playing up a fake attachment to her captor, Kyle warns Traci that Jack may be in real danger, and the Newmans wait in agony to learn if Nikki’s surgery saved her vision.

Diane Jenkins Turns Her Captor Into Her Mark

Saving the most deliciously twisted for first, because this is the one that has us cackling. Over at his house, Laurence Markham thinks he is the one running the session. He has no idea the woman on his sofa has flipped the entire script. Diane Jenkins, batting her lashes, floats a loaded little question. “Isn’t there also a psychological term for when you’re developing an attachment to your therapist?” she asks, sweet as spun sugar.

Laurence, smug as ever, walks right into it. “It’s quite common. It can be a positive part of the process,” he assures her. And that is when Diane Jenkins springs the trap with a smile. “Well, then let’s just say I’m really looking forward to our next session,” she purrs.

Make no mistake about what is happening here. Diane Jenkins is not falling for her captor. She is playing him like a cheap fiddle, dangling the one thing a man that arrogant cannot resist, his own reflection.

Every coy glance is a lock pick. She has already snagged a phone and tried every password she could think of, and now she is going for the long con, charming her way toward the exit one fake swoon at a time. Our girl did not claw her way back from the dead to rot in a fortress by Power Lake, and watching her out-scheme a so-called genius is going to be the best kind of theater.

Got a wild theory about how Diane finally gets out of that house? We are dying to hear it. Send your boldest guesses and speculation to amber@soapoperamagazine.com and your name could headline a future story.

Kyle Sounds the Alarm Over a Father in Peril

At Society, the panic is rising fast. Kyle Abbott hunts down Traci with a question that no son asks calmly. “Have you seen or heard from my dad today?” he asks. Traci, instantly on alert, fires back, “Not today, no. Has something happened?”

And then Kyle says the quiet part out loud. “I think he might be in real trouble,” he admits, and the bottom drops out of the room. This is the cost of Jack playing house with a woman who has already kidnapped his wife once.

Kyle has been chasing this lead for days, tailing Laurence to that gated compound, threatening to call in the police, baiting the doctor into a face-to-face. Now Jack has gone quiet at the worst possible moment, and his son is left wondering if the man walked straight into the lion’s den. Traci is exactly the right person to grab, because if anyone can mobilize the Abbotts in a hurry, it is her.

Nikki Comes Out of Surgery as the Newmans Hold Their Breath

The Newman family is frozen at the hospital, hanging on a single sentence. Victoria delivers the words everyone has been dreading and praying over. “Mom’s out of surgery,” she tells them, and Victor simply stares, that fearsome face cracked wide open with terror for the only woman who ever truly tamed him.

“How did it go?” Nick asks, voicing the fear in every throat. Victoria has no comfort to offer. “It’s too soon to tell,” she explains, and like that the family is suspended in the worst kind of limbo.

Nikki went under the knife to save her vision from the mass strangling her optic nerve, flown-in surgeon and all, and now the verdict hangs in the balance. Did the brilliant New York doctor pull off the miracle? Or does the Newman matriarch wake to a world gone dark? Victor put aside every ounce of his pride to get her this chance, and the next moments will tell whether it was enough.
