The Young and the Restless
Three Newman Women Later and Y&R’s Kyle Abbott Still Lives At Home With His Parents
Kyle Abbott has worked his way through three different Newman women on Y&R and still hasn’t left his own parents’ house at all.
CLASSY PUNK, ENTITLED BRAT, CERTIFIED GENOA CITY PROBLEM
Kyle Abbott is Genoa City’s eclipse. You know better than to look directly at him, and you look anyway. He has worked his way through three Newman women, Summer, Claire, and now Victoria, all without ever actually leaving his parents’ house or growing up.
The Scorecard Nobody Asked For
On Y&R, Kyle Abbott has a track record all over Genoa City, but the Newman family keeps pulling him back no matter who else is in the picture. First there was Summer Newman, a marriage he somehow managed to enter into more than once and still could not make stick, ending both times the way most things involving Kyle end, messily and with plenty of blame to spread around. Then came Claire Newman, an entanglement that played out under his own family’s roof.
Now Victoria. As of this week, Kyle and Victoria Newman have slept together, once, right there in the Jabot C-suite, the same building where he supposedly works and supposedly answers to grown-ups. Three Newman women, one entitled Abbott son, and a track record that should make anyone with a Newman last name run in the opposite direction. Somehow nobody has mentioned the part that makes this even messier: Victoria used to be married to Kyle’s own uncle, Billy Abbott, and they share two kids together. Kyle did not simply cross a line with a Newman; he crossed one with family history attached.

Still Living Like It’s College
Here is the part that never adds up. Kyle is a grown man with a corporate title and a family fortune behind him, and he still lives under his parents’ roof like he never left for college. Most men his age with his resources would have their own place, their own life, some actual independence to show for it. Kyle has none of that, and nobody around him seems especially bothered by it either.
Instead, he has managed to turn his childhood bedroom into a launching pad for chaos involving three different Newman women, all while his parents presumably still know his comings and goings better than any self-respecting adult would want. That combination, entitled brat energy paired with zero actual independence, is exactly what makes him so easy to roll your eyes at and so hard to stop watching. A man his age juggling this many complicated entanglements while still under his own parents’ roof is a special kind of arrested development.
Why We Keep Looking Anyway
Kyle is not likable in any traditional sense. He is self-entitled, he flip-flops on his own loyalties depending on who is standing in front of him, and he somehow keeps landing in beds he has no business being in. And yet Genoa City, and every Y&R fan watching from home, cannot look away.
That is the eclipse effect. Everyone knows staring directly at Kyle Abbott is a bad idea. He is trouble in a nice suit, a description that has fit him for years now, and yet every single storyline he touches becomes must-watch television anyway. Maybe that is the real secret to why he keeps getting away with it: he is exactly messy enough to be entertaining and exactly charming enough that nobody fully writes him off. Fans complain about him constantly and then tune back in the very next day to see what he does next, which is exactly the paradox that keeps him relevant no matter how many people insist he needs a serious reality check.

Genoa City’s Eclipse Effect
Kyle Abbott has burned through three Newman women, Summer, Claire, and now Victoria, and he still cannot manage to move out of his parents’ house. He is Genoa City’s eclipse, dangerous to look at directly and somehow impossible to ignore.
