GH’s Jason Morgan Pocketed Evidence Instead Of Turning It In, And He’d Do It Again

Jason Morgan disarmed a woman who’d recently held two people at gunpoint, and on General Hospital, his very next move was to make sure the evidence of what almost happened never reached anyone with a badge.

A Gun, A Confession, And A Cleanup

At Mount Emerson, Anna held Britt and Jason Morgan at gunpoint while hallucinating a conversation with Peter, firing a shot that was aimed at a man who wasn’t even there. Britt screamed and Jason threw himself over her to shield her from the gunfire before he ever knew for certain who Anna was actually aiming at. Jason Morgan took the weapon from her, ordered Britt to run, and caught Anna as she collapsed, treating the whole scene like something he could handle quietly rather than something that needed outside help. Once she calmed down, Anna admitted she’d been hallucinating Peter since France and was relieved Jason had stopped her before she did something she couldn’t undo.

Jason theorized the visions were Anna manifesting her worst fears about Faison, and told her he was certain she never would have actually pulled the trigger on Britt, even though he’d watched her fire a loaded gun inside a house with two other people in it moments earlier. Then he promised Anna he’d come back later to personally handle the aftermath, which is exactly what he did, quietly examining a bullet casing he found on the ground instead of calling it in to anyone who could have processed the scene properly.

The Certainty Nobody Actually Has

Here’s the problem with Jason’s version of events: he wasn’t in Anna’s head. He can’t actually know she never would have pulled the trigger on Britt, because Anna herself was talking to a hallucination of a dead man when the gun went off in the first place, and hallucinations don’t follow anyone’s script, including Jason’s. Jason Morgan decided on his own that Anna’s trauma made the moment forgivable, and then acted on that decision by making sure there’d be nothing left at the scene to contradict him later.

That’s not protecting a friend from an unfair accusation. That’s a man with a long history of making his own rules deciding, unilaterally, that a woman who held two people at gunpoint doesn’t need to answer for it as long as he personally vouches for her state of mind at the time.

A Pattern He’s Never Really Broken

This isn’t new territory for Jason on General Hospital. He’s spent years quietly making evidence disappear and decisions for other people whenever he’s decided the ends justify it, and Anna’s breakdown gave Jason Morgan the perfect excuse to do it again under the cover of compassion. Monday’s preview has Jason confiding in Carly, which raises the question of how much of tonight he’s actually planning to tell her, and how much he’s planning to leave conveniently vague.

If Jason’s idea of confiding involves leaving out the part where he pocketed a bullet casing from an active WSB agent’s crime scene, that’s not honesty. That’s a more polite version of the same cover-up, dressed up as loyalty instead of what it actually is.

Britt Isn’t Going To Let This Go Quietly

Britt already wants Jason to back her up when she reports Anna for attempted murder, and he already refused, telling her flatly that he didn’t believe Anna would have gone through with it and that Britt wasn’t ever in real danger. Once she finds out he also cleaned up the scene instead of preserving it, that refusal is going to look a lot more like obstruction and a lot less like a friend simply keeping his opinion to himself.

Jason has decided he gets to be the one who determines what almost happened at Mount Emerson actually matters, and he’s willing to tamper with a crime scene to make sure his version sticks. Anna gets protected. Britt gets dismissed. And the truth gets buried in Jason’s jacket pocket instead of an evidence bag.
