This Young and the Restless Recap catches Sally’s stillbirth grief, Jack and Diane’s war on a stuffed cat, and Phyllis fighting for Matt.
THIS YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS RECAP HAS SALLY SPECTRA SPIRALING WHILE JACK ABBOTT AND DIANE JENKINS DECLARE WAR ON A STUFFED CAT
TL;DR: This Young and the Restless Recap catches Sally Spectra having a full pregnancy meltdown at the GCAC before asking Chelsea Lawson to be a bridesmaid, Jack Abbott and Diane Jenkins trash-talking a literal stuffed cat while bracing for Patty Williams to strike at the wedding, Devon Winters and Cane Ashby failing spectacularly at being in the same room, and Phyllis Summers begging Matt Clark not to let Patty turn him into her next victim.
Sally Spectra Cries, Gets a Pep Talk, Then Immediately Gets a Different Kind of Headache
Sally Spectra is having a day, and of course it’s happening on a Friday, the one day this town could’ve let someone catch a break. Chelsea Lawson finds her sobbing at the GCAC and briefly assumes actual medical emergency before realizing this is grief, plain and simple — the closer Sally gets to this baby’s due date, the harder her stillbirth keeps hitting her all over again. Chelsea talks her down with the kind of speech that should really come printed on a laminated card by now — this baby is safe, Sally has people, the house will be full of love, etc. — and somehow it works, because Sally thanks her like she just talked her off a ledge instead of just being a decent friend for five minutes.
Naturally, this is the exact moment Audra Charles chooses to materialize. She announces that Chloe Mitchell is bailing on the wedding for a cruise with Gloria, volunteers herself and Coco for bachelorette-planning duty, and then spends a solid chunk of time glaring at Chelsea’s retreating back like she personally stole something. Once Chelsea’s gone, Audra immediately demands to know what that was about, despite Sally insisting there’s no drama there whatsoever. Audra’s response is essentially “call me next time, not some rando from your past,” which is a genuinely unhinged thing to say about someone who just calmed your friend down from a full breakdown.
When Billy Abbott shows up, Sally recaps her spiral, he confirms she’s great at getting talked off ledges, and then casually mentions his brother’s throwing him a bachelor party because their family’s dealing with a stalker who mails stuffed animals. Sally, undeterred, pivots straight to asking whether Chelsea can be her third bridesmaid — a request that is going to go over with Audra about as well as you’d expect.
Think Chelsea’s about to become an actual bridesmaid, or is Audra going to torpedo that idea by sundown? Email us your take at amber@soapoperamagazine.com, we want to hear it.
Jack Abbott and Diane Jenkins vs. One (1) Stuffed Cat
Over at the Abbott estate, Jack Abbott briefs Billy and Kyle Abbott on the latest Patty Williams developments, and Diane Jenkins immediately jumps to “she’s going to ruin the wedding,” which, fair, given the track record. Jack refuses to panic. Billy, less diplomatically, states he does not want a SWAT team at his own ceremony, which is a sentence no groom should ever have to say out loud.
Diane rants that the authorities apparently cannot locate one specific woman, and Jack’s solution is a bachelor party as a distraction technique, which is either genius misdirection or just an excuse to drink. Once Billy leaves, Kyle discovers Mr. Kitty sitting around and learns exactly whose “gift” that was. Diane doesn’t hesitate — the cat goes straight in the trash with a triumphant “good riddance,” as if disposing of a stuffed animal is the same thing as actually solving the Patty problem.
Devon Winters and Cane Ashby Cannot Share Oxygen
At Society, Devon Winters is on the phone with his sister when Cane Ashby sits down nearby, and the two immediately start circling each other like this is a boxing weigh-in and not lunch. Cane asks after Nate Hastings and the college, Devon suggests he try the website, and things devolve from there into the same argument they’ve clearly had a dozen times about Lily Winters. Devon insists Cane will break her heart again eventually, and if he actually cares about her, the kindest thing he could do is leave. Cane, unbothered, steps outside and calls Lily directly to promise she can count on him — personally and professionally — proving he heard absolutely none of it.
Phyllis Summers Fights for Matt Clark’s Life While He Insists on Making It Difficult
At Crimson Lights, Phyllis Summers catches Matt Clark with Nick Newman and Sharon Newman, and Nick tells Matt he doesn’t need a farewell tour, he can just leave already. Matt insists he’s finally ready to go on schedule, but not before delivering the world’s most backhanded compliment to Sharon and Nick’s relationship — congratulations on your bond, also you two should probably just be together, which lands about as well as you’d think.
Phyllis pulls Matt aside at the Chancellor Park Café and refuses to let this go quietly. He tells her he’s more like Patty than he’d like to admit, and she counters that she’d rather give him credit for staying than watch him become Patty’s next casualty. She lays out an entire case for why he’s worth sticking around for, he insists he doesn’t want to drag her down with him, and she storms off, leaving him crying alone with a decision that clearly isn’t as settled as he claims.

Genoa City Managed to Make Even a Stuffed Cat Complicated
One woman cried about a baby that isn’t even born yet and somehow ended up adding to her bridal party. Two people fought a war of attrition against a plush toy and called it a victory. Two more couldn’t split a lunch table without relitigating a decade of grievances. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, one man is trying to decide whether staying alive is worth staying in Genoa City. Just a completely normal Friday by this town’s standards.
