TL;DR: Cait Fairbanks is officially back in front of the Y&R cameras as Tessa Porter after more than five months off-screen. Her return means Teriah fans could finally get the on-camera reunion with Mariah they’ve been begging for since August.

A Dressing Room Selfie That Broke The Internet

Cait Fairbanks just gave Teriah shippers something to scream about. On September 16, the actress posted a selfie from her Y&R dressing room, confirming she’s filming again as Tessa Porter after an absence that’s stretched since April 13 — the day Tessa told Daniel she couldn’t go through with the Barcelona trip his rock star father, Danny (Michael Damian), had planned for them.

That Barcelona bailout came at the end of a messy chapter. Tessa’s marriage to Mariah had been falling apart while she leaned on Daniel for guitar lessons, and the two ended up sleeping together on New Year’s Eve. Tessa filed for divorce not long after, and Daniel ended things with her once Mariah admitted she still loved her wife.

Then came the twist nobody actually got to watch: on August 3, Mariah told Sharon that she and Tessa had quietly reconciled off-camera, a reveal that left plenty of fans annoyed they’d been robbed of the reunion itself.

Genoa City Owes Teriah Fans This One

An off-screen reconciliation only goes so far, and Cait Fairbanks being back on set is the first real sign Genoa City is ready to pay that debt. Whatever Tessa and Mariah’s dynamic looks like now, fans are finally going to get to see it instead of just hearing about it after the fact.
