Bold and the Beautiful recap September 23: Finn refuses the surrogacy, Carter lies again, and Daphne shops for a baby that is not hers.

TL;DR: Carter Walton lied to Daphne on Friday and has been building on it ever since. Finn shut the surrogacy down cold on Wednesday. Steffy still has not told a single person she is already pregnant.
Finn Refused and Meant Every Word of It
The Bold and the Beautiful recap September 23 hands the whole hour to a man with a flask. Carter Walton sat at his desk spiking his coffee while across town Steffy Forrester Finnegan tried to sell her husband on the worst idea of her life. She told John Finnegan she wants to donate her eggs and carry a baby for the Waltons. Finn’s answer was four words: “You’re kidding, right?”
Then Steffy admitted she has already discussed the whole thing with Carter and his wife, which knocked Finn sideways. He argued that other women could do this for them. Steffy said other women do not have a history with the couple, which is true in a way she cannot possibly explain to him. Finn told her she is not in a position to take this on, that they are too busy, that it would confuse their children, and that it would land too hard on their family.
He also asked the two questions that could end this entire storyline in an afternoon. Had something happened to make her think of this, and why now? Steffy let him answer for her, and he landed on guilt over Daphne being unable to conceive. A Flask, a Bag of Baby Clothes, and a Lie Nobody Caught
Over at Forrester, Daphne Rose Walton breezed in carrying a bag of baby clothes. She was glowing about Steffy considering the arrangement. Carter Walton told her to keep it quiet because Steffy has not spoken to Finn yet, which had stopped being true roughly an hour earlier. He is now running behind on his own scheme, a pattern we have been tracking day by day on our B and B two week spoilers page.
Then he pulled a flask out, poured it into his coffee cup, and choked slightly getting it down. Daphne kept talking about how much she trusts Steffy. She called the plan the next best thing to her and Carter Walton making a baby together, which is the cruelest true sentence anyone has said on this show all year. They already did exactly that, in the Forrester CEO office, back in August.
Did Finn Say Yes to the Surrogacy on Bold and the Beautiful?
No. Finn refused outright, and he did it without knowing the first real thing about what he was refusing. Here is what nobody else is saying about Wednesday: the frozen eggs Carter keeps citing do not exist, because no clinic, no retrieval and no procedure has ever appeared on screen. He invented them on Monday to stop Steffy confessing, then repeated them on Wednesday to hand his wife a timeline. Daphne is planning a nursery around a medical event that never happened.
Taylor Is Circling Something She Cannot Name Yet
At the Bikini Bar, Taylor Hayes crept up on Deacon Sharpe and startled him, because he assumed she was Sheila Carter. Deacon told her that Sheila misses Finn every bit as much as she misses him. Taylor was not buying it and said so, then pivoted to the thing actually eating at her. Her daughter has not been right since Monaco, and Taylor is no longer certain Sheila is the reason.
What she said next was the writers having fun at everyone’s expense. Whatever Steffy is wrestling with is not going away, Taylor said, and it is taking up more space inside of her. My gut tells me Taylor gets there before Finn does, because she is a psychiatrist who has already ruled out the obvious suspect. Don’t be surprised if Carter Walton hands it to her himself, because a man who needs a flask to survive a conversation about onesies is not holding this much longer.

Carter Is Going to Drink His Way Into a Confession
Here is where we land. Carter has now told three separate lies to hold this together, and the newest one names a procedure that never took place. Lies with medical details attached are the ones that get checked, and Daphne has every reason in the world to start checking.
Finn saying no might be the best thing that has happened to Steffy all month, because it hands her a way out that does not require confessing anything to anybody.
