Carter Walton wants Steffy Forrester to tell Daphne Rose that an implantation happened on September 30, while the baby she’s actually carrying was conceived in mid-August, on a whiskey-soaked night at Forrester after the Monaco flight. Do the subtraction. About six weeks separate the real baby from the fake one, which means the “surrogate” delivers roughly six weeks ahead of a due date that never existed.
Every day Carter stalls adds one more day to that gap. Nine days ago he blurted to Daphne that this could happen in less than a year. Now he’s pushing for an implantation dated today, because apparently a calendar is a suggestion when you’re panicking. Steffy predicted it on September 16, when she warned she’d be showing before they finished convincing their spouses. Two weeks later, the plan still has no sign-off from the one man who reads charts for a living.

A Preemie Story In A House Full Of Doctors
The only exit from this corner is the old “she had the baby early” routine, and B&B has cast that routine in front of the worst possible audience. Finn is a doctor. His mother, Li Finnegan, spends her days around a hospital. A healthy full-term newborn is going to look awfully suspicious next to a chart insisting she showed up six weeks early, and every extra week Carter wastes widens that gap.
Add Taylor Hayes, who has told both Ridge Forrester and Finn that Steffy hasn’t been herself since Monaco, and the plan has a crowd of people professionally trained to ask follow-up questions.
Steffy Forrester Has Been Right Since Day One
Steffy wins every point in this argument. She said faking a surrogacy would never work, and the calendar backed her up. She said she can’t grow a baby, fall in love with it, and hand it over, and she has already lived through giving up Beth Spencer. She said lying to her doctor husband for the rest of her life is a sentence, not a plan.
Nobody should mistake her reluctance for weakness. Steffy Forrester is the only person in this mess doing arithmetic and ethics at the same time.
Carter Walton Has A Flask And No Shame
Carter pressed Daphne to float Steffy as the surrogate, then told Steffy to make Daphne think it was her idea. When Steffy finally said, “Daphne, there’s something I have to tell you,” Carter cut her off and blurted that the eggs were frozen. He offered her a “consolation spot” as godmother. He suggested she “adjust her mind” so she wouldn’t think of the baby as hers. On September 30 he informed her she’s “not playing, she’s giving,” which is a charming way to describe a forced hand.
He also told her the stress is bad for the baby, then kept piling on the stress. He spiked his coffee at Forrester while Daphne gushed about trusting Steffy. Daphne cried into a hug and called this the most selfless thing anyone has ever done for her, and the man who built the whole mess kept stirring.
The worst part is that Carter, who is kind of a monster here, knows exactly how impossible this is. All he needs is for the calendar to keep quiet a little longer, and for Steffy to keep doing his lying for him.
