The Bold and the Beautiful
B&B’s Carter Walton Built A Baby Cover Story Out Of Kindling And Brought Matches
Carter Walton’s Bold and the Beautiful surrogacy lie has timeline holes, two clueless spouses and a baby nobody can explain for long.
CARTER WALTON CANNOT TALK HIS WAY OUT OF THIS ONE
TL;DR: B&B’s Carter Walton announced a surrogacy so fast it came with a made-up implantation story, two spouses kept in the dark, and a fuse that’s already burning.

A Baby, A Cover Story, And Two Spouses Left In The Dark
Carter Walton and Steffy Forrester have decided the best way to survive a big secret is to confess to a smaller, dumber one. Instead of coming clean about one drunken night, they stood in front of Daphne Rose and announced the implantation had already happened, no consultation, no warning, and nobody’s spouse invited. Carter blamed timelines. Steffy, looking like a woman being walked to the gallows, eventually confirmed it.
Daphne is playing right into it, and that’s the saddest part. She went from shock to calling Steffy a great friend to wondering aloud how her husband and best friend could keep something this enormous from her. She even held up Steffy’s marriage to Finn as the model of absolute commitment she wants for her own. Somebody get that woman a drink and a clue.
Finn is the other spouse locked out of the room, and he’s the bigger problem. He told Steffy flat out that surrogacy was a terrible idea, then left for a conference believing the subject was closed. Steffy now tells him over the phone how much she misses him while hiding the one thing he’d most want to know. Carter’s working theory is that Finn is too busy being a doting husband to think hard about any of it. That’s a spectacular amount of faith to place in a man with a medical degree.

Daphne Has Been Hugging Her Own Betrayal
Daphne has spent two weeks thanking the very two people lying to her. She sobbed in Steffy’s arms, called it the most selfless thing anyone had ever done for her, and turned up with a bag of baby clothes before the plan even had a pulse. Every one of those hugs is now evidence. When the truth lands, Carter Walton won’t only face a furious wife, he’ll face one who remembers exactly how grateful she was.
Ridge Forrester, who also happens to be Steffy’s father, and Brooke Logan are cheering on the mystery surrogate too. They’ve gushed about what a wonderful dad Carter will be, and Brooke is already calling the woman remarkable. Nobody in that room knows how right she is.

The Timeline Math Is Not Mathing
Carter has already started spiking his office coffee with a flask, which is not the move of a man with a plan. Steffy has spotted the fatal flaw, and he waved it off like a typo. A baby conceived on a drunken night can’t pass as an embryo transferred this month, so the plan needs an early delivery and a doctor willing to look the other way. Carter’s answer is that he has contacts, which is the sentence that launches a thousand soap disasters. Carter Walton has never met a problem he couldn’t talk over, but arithmetic doesn’t take bribes, and every extra lie is another thread in a story built to unravel.
Taylor Hayes is watching from the sidelines, and she’s a psychiatrist who has already said that whatever is eating Steffy is taking up more space inside of her. She meant it figuratively. The writers did not. Add Finn’s promise of a week in bed when he gets home, and the question nobody at that table can answer yet gets louder: which man does this baby actually belong to?

Grab The Popcorn, Because This Baby Has A Due Date And So Does The Truth
How long can this really go on? Not long. The cover story needs a doctor, an early delivery and two spouses with their eyes squeezed shut, and that’s before Daphne starts asking why she was the last to know. When it all collapses, Carter Walton will have to explain the affair, the lies and the frozen eggs, while Steffy explains why the baby she’s carrying has a father nobody can name for sure.
