Hayley Meets Vernon and Marcel’s Saw

Hayley Lawson learns the hard way that Fairmont Crest has a hidden amenities package. Marcel Malone snatches her outside Uptown, blindfolds her, and delivers her to a room draped in plastic and stocked with heavy machinery. She fights, he plants her in a chair, ties her down, and flips the switch on a blade. Brunch plans are officially canceled.

Enter Vernon Dupree, the only man in town who can interrupt a buzzsaw with good manners. He has the gag taken off, Hayley babbles her gratitude, and he advises her to save it. Then he sends Marcel outside and asks the question of the hour: what exactly should they do with her?

The waterworks arrive on cue. Hayley sobs that her threat to Joey, about the recordings never surfacing, was a bluff. Vernon reminds her she aimed a gun at his daughter. She counters that her only goal is collecting her due from Bill. Then the penny drops: blasting those tapes would expose her, and every mark she ever fleeced could come knocking. Vernon, no fool, suspects she had help and demands names. Hayley serves up Randy Parker on a silver platter and swears the whole scheme was his brainchild.

Marcel returns, learns what she was holding over everyone, and grumbles that he would have ended her ages ago. A text then orders him to cut her loose. Moments later, Leslie Thomas spots Hayley climbing out of Marcel’s car and wears the look of a woman who did not authorize this carpool. Hayley shoulders past her. She needs a drink, and frankly, she has earned the bottle.

Joey Cleans House

Back at the gambling den, Joey Armstrong has Randy in his sights when Vernon wanders in, noting that shooting with a witness watching is bad form. Vernon urges Randy to bolt while bolting is still an option, and Joey sends a henchman to tail him anyway. The two men then bicker over how this mess has been handled. Joey notes that Vernon’s bright ideas keep blowing up in their faces, claims he admires him, and fancies himself the helpful sort. Vernon calls it a difference in style and asks for room to deal with Hayley in his preferred fashion.

Later, Bill Hamilton, Ted Richardson, and Elon Hawthorne join Joey to weigh how to silence Hayley for good. Bill rules out murder as too messy and says he refuses to let the world learn he was swindled. A cover-up sounds exhausting. Joey demands guarantees, Elon bets on Vernon, because men who build empires are rarely soft, and Vernon strolls in with a settlement: Bill pays up. Marcel’s saw and Vernon’s own resources did the persuading. Ted and Elon head out, hoping the nightmare is over.

Vernon then tips Joey off that Randy was Hayley’s partner. A henchman soon drags in the culprit, caught at the depot. Hayley says Randy plotted it all, Randy says the opposite, and Joey clears the room so he can handle his employee solo. He pours Randy a drink, Randy volunteers to prove himself, and Joey cheerfully invokes Doug as a cautionary tale. Nothing says team building like a threat with ice cubes.

Dani Leaps Away From Bill

Earlier, Dani Dupree pops into Bill’s office, where he promises the family can relax because Hayley will never hurt anyone he loves again. He thanks Dani for connecting the dots and saving his life, then pulls her into a hug. Dani springs backward, reminding him that a husband awaits. Bill smooths his trousers with the dignity of a man who definitely did not get rejected. When she exits, he phones Joey and gets news that is not good.

Andre Richardson has had it. He storms into Ted’s office to gripe about his wife’s closeness with Bill, admitting he is tired of playing Mr. Understanding. He once shrugged off the cozy vibe, but not anymore. Ted airs his own marital wreckage and tells Andre to study his errors. Ted is basically a walking cautionary pamphlet.

At home, Andre greets Dani with a request for a serious conversation. She admits she spent time with Bill, and he explodes, reminding her of their vows. Dani calls him unfair, but Andre says he is tired of her treating their marriage so carelessly.

Eva Heads to a Conference

Izaiah Hawthorne swings by Orphey Gene’s to see Eva Thomas and grumbles that his brother keeps teasing him about bonding with their dad. Eva admits that mending fences with Kat Richardson may not be possible. A text calls her back to the office, and he escorts her to the door.

At Ted’s office, Eva assumes a summons to discuss her career means a pink slip. Surprise: Ted thinks she is great and wants her to take his seat at an industry event. Eva squeals with delight, which Ted predicts will fade after a few panel discussions.

Meanwhile, Izaiah finds Leslie parked at Eva’s place with soda and popcorn, binging a scary movie. She teases him about skipping class and asks when he plans to propose. He dodges, she predicts angelic grandbabies, and he squirms. Izaiah swears his heart belongs to Eva and Kat is merely a friend, though he fears the chatter is messing with Eva’s head. Leslie takes the guilt, admitting she raised her daughter to resent Kat, then warns that her wrath awaits if he wrongs Eva. Eva walks in with her conference news, and both gush. After Leslie leaves, Izaiah promises Eva that Kat is no threat.
