DAYTIME EMMYS ROLL OUT THE GOLD FOR PATRIKA DARBO

TL;DR: The Daytime Emmys have named their 2026 Gold Circle and Silver Circle inductees, as announced by NATAS on the Emmys’ daytime site, and soap favorite Patrika Darbo is on the list. She is due back on Y&R this month as Shirley Spectra.

A Soap Favorite Takes A Seat At The Gold Table

Patrika Darbo is about to have a very good October. The actress is among this year’s Gold Circle honorees, a distinction the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences saves for careers that stretch 50 years or more, according to the Emmys’ own honors page.

The timing is deliciously convenient. Patrika is due in Genoa City as Shirley Spectra for Sally Spectra and Billy Abbott’s wedding, and the pre-wedding parties are already in full swing, with Sally’s bachelorette ending on a scare. Genoa City is busy setting the stage for a celebrated guest. The Daytime Emmys clearly know a scene-stealer when they see one.

Meet The Rest Of The Honor Roll

Patrika has company in the Gold Circle. Byron Allen, a host, producer and the chairman and CEO of Allen Media Group, is in, along with Francesca James, who has Emmy wins on both sides of the camera as an actress and as a producer on All My Children and General Hospital. Meredith Vieira, the journalist who once held a seat at The View table and now runs Meredith Vieira Productions, rounds out the group. This year’s Daytime Emmys class reads like a TV industry reunion.

The Silver Circle, which honors careers of 25 years or longer, goes to Stephen Brown, a programming and development executive at Fox Television Stations, and Rubin Ervin, a TV announcer and studio warm-up host.

One Big Night, Plenty Of Soap Stakes

Mark October 30 on your calendar: Los Angeles hosts the party at the Hollywood Palladium, where Genie Francis is also set to collect the Lifetime Achievement honor. The show skips television this year and goes online instead, with a livestream through the Emmys’ YouTube channel and website. It makes for one stacked Daytime Emmys night.

That same evening, the soap world finds out who goes home with a statuette. According to the Daytime Emmys’ nominee list, updated September 18, the Outstanding Daytime Drama Series field is Beyond the Gates, Days of our Lives, General Hospital and Young and the Restless. Bold and the Beautiful is not in that category, though several of its stars are up for acting honors. Do you think the race plays out the way the list suggests?

Gold Looks Good On Genoa City

Whatever Shirley has planned for the wedding, she will walk in with a shinier résumé than anyone else on the guest list.
