SALLY SPECTRA AND BILLY ABBOTT’S GATSBY WEDDING HAS FIREWORKS

TL;DR: Sally Spectra and Billy Abbott are getting a Gatsby wedding on Y&R that starts October 16 and rolls through October 19, and Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive first photos. With a rival-packed guest list and a mother-of-the-groom question mark, peace is not on the menu.

Roaring Twenties, Roaring Egos

Y&R has set the table for the wedding of the season, and fans can finally stop begging for pictures. Courtney Hopeplays Sally Spectra and Jason Thompson plays Billy Abbott, and the two are going full Gatsby with a celebration that opens October 16 and refuses to leave until October 19.

Sally Spectra walks in wearing white, lace spiraling across the gown and a diamond-shaped cutout daring anyone to look away. Billy counters with a white tuxedo shirt, black buttons, a bowtie and a cream blazer, the look of a man who knows the speakeasy password. Young and the Restless viewers have watched “Silly” circle this altar since 2024, so nobody expects a clean bow.

Lace, Layers, And A Lucky Blazer

Nothing about this gown is generic. Mandi Line, who designs costumes for the show and has a Daytime Emmy nod, told Entertainment Weekly she and Courtney Hope began planning early, and the dress was built from scratch. The goal was vintage fabric, a fresh silhouette and a softly feminine finish, which Line says is pure Sally Spectra.

The dress has four layers, and half of the lace was cut by hand and stitched into precise positions. Billy’s trousers and tie are true vintage 1920s, while the cream jacket was not custom-made, because Line says the groom can throw on nearly anything and look perfect. Orlando Marin handled makeup and Justin Jackson did hair, and all three artists are Daytime Emmy nominees.

The Seating Chart Is A Crime Scene

Audra Charles is maid of honor, no surprise there. Chelsea Lawson standing up as a bridesmaid is the twist that has Genoa City scratching its head, and her boyfriend Adam Newman cannot stand the groom. Lily Winters shares a past with Billy and a nasty rivalry with the bride, while Cane Ashby has clashed with both over Abbott Communications and Chancellor Industries.

Toss in Jack Abbott, Ashley Abbott, Traci Abbott, Abby Newman, Lauren Fenmore and Michael Baldwin, and the group photo needs a referee. As for Kyle Abbott and Victoria Newman, their secret affair makes their attendance a mystery. Can they sit through vows without a single guilty glance?

An Empty Chair And A Ticking Clock

Jill Abbott has been open about her health fight and her fear that she might not make the ceremony. That possible empty chair hangs over the whole celebration.

Thompson has teased something serious involving Jill, plus twists and turns and a newborn soon after the vows. With Sally almost nine months along, the clock is louder than the band.

Pass The Champagne, Pack The Bail Money

A hand-cut lace gown, a groom in vintage trousers and a guest list that reads like a lineup: Sally Spectra’s wedding day has all the ingredients for a very soapy disaster. Genoa City is not about to let this one pass quietly.
