THIS BEYOND THE GATES RECAP TARGETS SMITTY FOR A FALL
TL;DR: This Beyond the Gates Recap catches Smitty getting framed by a fake video tied to Lia’s death, Bill Hamilton quietly scheming his way through a cover story with Dani Dupree, Hayley Lawson walking free as the whole town reacts, and Chelsea Hamilton leaning on Madison while the fallout piles up.

Smitty Gets Framed for Lia’s Death
Earlier in the day, Martin Richardson and his husband Smitty grabbed dinner at the club alongside a campaign strategist named Kendra, who’d recently been briefed that a rival camp had sniffed out Smitty’s past questioning in connection with Lia‘s death. The three scrambled for damage control, agreeing they needed something concrete, ideally a written statement confirming the drugs originated somewhere within prison walls, to kill the story before it could spread further. Smitty doubted that paperwork would ever materialize. Martin, ever the optimist, insisted he trusted Jacob Hawthorne and the police to sort it out, a faith Kendra clearly found adorable and misguided in equal measure before making her exit.
That trust got tested hard once the three regrouped: Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne joined Martin and Smitty at the station. Jacob wanted Martin kept out of it entirely, preferring to handle things quietly, but Martin wasn’t budging, pointing out the opposition already had the information anyway. The evidence waiting for them looked damning on its face: a pouch carrying traces of the exact substance responsible for Lia’s death. Naomi argued that proved nothing concrete, and Smitty swore he had no idea how that pouch ever ended up near Lia in the first place.
Then Jacob played the video. Martin shot to his feet in a panic before Jacob warned him he’d be shown the door if he couldn’t settle down. Jacob pressed Smitty on whether Lia had ever requested something from him, and whether he’d personally passed her the pouch. Smitty denied it flatly. Naomi pointed out the pouch itself could easily be one of thousands identical to it, mass-produced and untraceable. Elon Hawthorne stood by listening as Smitty dropped the real bombshell: that footage is fabricated, and the woman everyone in Fairmont Crest knows as the Impaler is maneuvering to pin a murder on him that he never committed.
Who’s really pulling the strings behind that fake video, and can Smitty prove his innocence before it’s too late? Email your theories to amber@soapoperamagazine.com. We want every guess you’ve got.

Hayley Walks While Fairmont Crest Reels
On Beyond the Gates, at the station, Elon fielded a call and confirmed the news everyone had been dreading: the prosecutor officially declined to pursue charges against Hayley Lawson, despite prosecutors literally holding the vial of poison as evidence. Naomi could barely contain her fury over Bill’s hand in engineering this outcome, and even Jacob admitted he wished he understood what had actually happened behind the scenes.
Word traveled fast. Over at Orphie’s, Hayley was already mid-meltdown over a scheduling conflict with her hairstylist, pinning the blame squarely on the Duprees, when Tomas Navarro and Kat Richardson walked in mid-argument of their own about communication and overdue apologies. Hayley interrupted to deliver the news herself, flashing a wink as Kat’s jaw dropped and Tomas attempted, badly, to look surprised. Kat had officially reached her limit on watching dangerous women dodge consequences for attempted murder, and Hayley fired back by invoking Kat’s own mother’s wedding-day poisoning attempt, before sailing off happily unemployed and wishing Tomas good luck with Naomi.
Left alone, Kat and Tomas puzzled over Bill’s motives, with Kat branding him an outright fool. The conversation drifted into Tomas venting about his own anxieties working for Bill, and Kat gently suggested he simply quit if it was that bad, though she privately suspects he’s destined to become Bill’s right-hand man regardless. Grateful for her support, Tomas sealed the moment with a kiss right as Chelsea Hamilton arrived to vent about her father’s latest decision. Chelsea wondered aloud what Hayley could possibly be holding over Bill, and Kat reminded her cousin that Bill has never exactly been a paragon of morality, vowing to dig up whatever leverage Hayley is using so they can finally shut her down.
Meanwhile at Uptown, Caroline Lee caught up with Naomi over mocha lattes and confirmed Hayley remains permanently banned from the premises, admitting she never trusted the woman to begin with, a revelation that genuinely stunned Naomi. Caroline went further, confessing she’d actually been spying on Hayley for Bill the entire time, calling him her favorite bastard despite everything. When Naomi dropped the news about Bill dropping the charges, Caroline suggested Dani might be the only person left who could actually talk sense into him. When Hayley herself strolled up to order a drink, Caroline warned her to keep a close eye on it before anyone could slip something in, then admitted the friendly act had always been exactly that, since she’s despised Hayley from the start. Hayley laughed it off and strolled away, though not before Caroline threw one last heads-up her way to stay vigilant.

Bill Plays the Fixer Again
At the office, Dani Dupree walked Bill in for his first day back, privately convinced the whole idea was insane but relieved to see him genuinely happy. Confronted with boxes of Hayley’s belongings, Bill was invited to torch the lot, and the two rehashed how foolish he feels about the entire ordeal. Dani praised him as wonderful for keeping her family out of a cell, but Bill corrected her instantly: self-preservation was the only motive, since a conspiracy charge would have landed on him too. Dani wasn’t interested in his modesty, insisting he’s somehow capable of being selfish, wounding and genuinely wonderful, all in the same breath.
Bill laid out his plan for the public story: he’ll claim he dropped the charges to avoid reputational damage, nothing more. He warned Dani that Andre Richardson wouldn’t appreciate her hovering so closely, though Dani insisted Andre understands completely, a claim Bill clearly doesn’t buy. Circling back to Hayley, Bill made it clear this fight is far from finished, promising to put together paperwork that reads as generous right up until she stumbles over fine print she never thought to check. He still fancies himself The Fixer. The two shared an embrace, with Dani recalling a steamier memory involving an elevator, before Bill closed the day alone with a drink, smashing every framed photo of himself and his soon-to-be ex-wife.

Chelsea Finds Comfort in Madison
At the hospital, Chelsea fixated on the theory that Hayley’s poison had somehow left her father with lingering brain damage, since nothing else explained the decision to let her go. Madison pointed out Bill seemed perfectly lucid and had already been discharged, leaving Chelsea stunned and quietly aware she’d spiraled into making the whole situation about herself.
Madison talked her down, urging her to focus on the actual good news: Bill survived, and Hayley is officially gone from the picture. When Madison wondered aloud if this was really about Allison Bailey instead, Chelsea insisted it wasn’t, explaining it’s really about craving closeness with her own parents. Madison admitted she couldn’t fully relate, given her own distant family, but conceded the point anyway and told Chelsea how genuinely happy she is to have found a real home among the Duprees. The two sealed the moment with a quiet kiss.
