HAYLEY SEES TWO STRIPES IN THIS BEYOND THE GATES RECAP
TL;DR: This Beyond the Gates Recap catches Hayley Lawson staring at a positive pregnancy test after Leslie Thomas spots every clue. Bill Hamilton gets wistful with Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne, Heather Armstrong daydreams about stabbing Dani Dupree, Joey Armstrong plots with Randy Parker, and Andre Richardson plans a bachelor party for Ted Richardson.

Hayley’s Test Comes Back Positive
Hayley Lawson spent the day in a deeply unglamorous state of mind, which for a woman who calls herself a high-class lady is practically a medical event. At Orphie Gene’s, she sat across from Randy Parker and heckled his ketchup-drowned lunch, clearly missing their old banter more than she planned to admit. Then she got to the point: where was the shiny new identity she had paid for? Randy rolled his eyes, handed over the paperwork, and she squealed and sent his payment through on the spot.
The squealing stopped when she read the name. Carey Jenner, a nanny. Hayley, who despises children and prefers a title with a yacht attached, sputtered that a lady of her standards could never answer to that. Randy reminded her that Hollywood power players love to sniff around the help, and that did the trick. She calmed down, he left, and she ordered herself a sundae, which turned out to be the most dangerous decision of her day.
Enter Leslie Thomas, who strolled over and told her to put the spoon down. Hayley had gained weight, Leslie observed, with the delicacy of a freight train. Leslie then brought up Marcel Malone and his famous mustache and where he could take it, and Hayley pressed a palm to her lips and bolted for the bathroom. When she came back, Leslie handed her a stick of mint gum, and Hayley lost all interest in dessert. Leslie happily dug in. She did not seem the least bit surprised by any of it, which tells you she may know exactly what she was looking at.
Back at her hotel, Hayley finally took a pregnancy test and sat through the longest two minutes of her criminal career. When the timer ran out, two stripes stared back at her. She screamed, flung the test across the room, and let out a single outraged “Damn!” Nobody in this town is more qualified to react like that, because this woman had a plan for everything except this.

Heather Fantasizes at the Club
In the club hallway, Leslie introduced herself to Heather Armstrong and fired off about twenty questions in a row. Heather reminded her what happens to curious cats, and Leslie shot back that her own claws were razor sharp. Heather said she would remember that, then explained she was in town to see her brother, Joey Armstrong. Leslie lit up, because Joey runs the clinic alongside her, and Heather, delighted, strolled inside. Leslie decided Heather was fascinating. Everyone in this town seems to be fascinated by the one woman they should be running from.
Inside, Heather found Dani Dupree, warned her about Leslie, and got a warning right back to steer clear of her. Then Heather casually poked at Dani’s tangled feelings about her ex, Bill Hamilton. Dani confessed she had been shaky all day thanks to Bill’s unhinged wife, and that she had lost sight of the deal she and Andre Richardson made to keep the past out of the present. Heather asked how much Dani knew about Andre’s history, and Dani began to spill: he used to chase anything that moved, but those women meant nothing and he was devoted to her, full stop. Heather listened closely, smug about how little Dani actually knew.
At that moment Heather imagined grabbing a knife and driving it into Dani’s chest, over and over. Dani gasped for air. Then Dani waved a hand and asked whether anyone was home, and the daydream burst. Heather blamed low electrolytes, and Dani, bless her trusting heart, urged her to take care of herself and hoped she found a man like her own. Spoiler: Heather already has her eye on one.
When Vanessa McBride arrived, she mentioned that she was showing houses to Shanice Johnson and Ted Richardson. Heather marveled at how kind everyone was being. She could never watch her ex flaunt a new love under her nose daily, she mused, because it might turn her murderous. She also hinted that Leslie and Joey were secretly an item, purely to get under Vanessa’s skin, but Vanessa insisted they were only partners. Considering the afternoon Heather had, nobody should assume she was joking.
Joey and Randy Plot Quietly
In the casino back room, Joey and Vanessa were wrapped around each other until she brought up Heather and the mood curdled. Joey wanted his sister gone, full stop. Vanessa told him to stop being like that, which annoyed him even more, and then Randy walked in and she went off to work. Randy mentioned that Heather was at the club.
Joey wanted to handle Heather without breaking the promise he made to Vernon Dupree, and he asked Randy to keep tabs on her. Randy agreed but admitted she was much harder to track than Hayley. They both agreed that Heather was formidable, which is the kind of understatement people make right before something terrible happens. Joey also asked how Hayley was holding up, and Randy had no idea how big her day was about to get.

Andre Plans Ted’s Bachelor Party
Andre phoned Dani while heading toward Ted Richardson. Dani was baffled that Bill’s cheating still stung, given his long record, and she rambled before apologizing. Andre shrugged it off.
He then filled Ted in on the interview that had embarrassed Dani so badly. Ted felt for Dani and for Bill too, since he knew the sting of having his own mess aired in public. Andre insisted Ted had always been remorseful and had strayed with exactly one woman, while Bill treated it like a hobby. The talk turned to Ted’s bachelor party, which Ted hoped to keep quiet because Shanice Johnson’s brothers would surely report back. Andre pronounced him no fun and started planning anyway on his tablet. Ted said it should stay small, since his father handled the first one. He added that he saw a lot of his late brother Stan in Andre and missed him dearly. Andre got a little emotional, and while they reminisced, his thoughts drifted to Heather.

Bill Counts His Regrets
Alone with his thoughts at work, Bill stared at old photos of Dani from her modeling days, then pictures of his children and the whole family. Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne caught him in the middle of the nostalgia trip. He hummed a song his father used to sing about wells and water.
Naomi told him the past could not be changed, though she was clearly thinking of her own marriage, since she had spent two years wearing down her husband. Bill warned her, in his roundabout way, to appreciate that husband before someone else did. Naomi urged her father to see that Dani had moved forward and found contentment. Bill concluded that Hayley had been his karma. It only took him a marriage, a poisoning, and a lot of money to figure that out.

Beyond the Gates Holds Its Breath
Fairmont Crest had a day of unexpected news, uneasy company, and plenty of people pretending they were fine. Hayley found out she might be in far more trouble than a bad alias, Heather smiled sweetly while picturing something much darker, and Joey and Randy kept their eyes on the wrong woman. Andre planned a party his uncle did not want, and Bill learned a very late lesson about what he lost. That is life on Beyond the Gates, where the secrets are tidy until a test strip shows up.
