Jordi Vilasuso Joins Fairmont Crest

In major casting news, Emmy winner Jordi Vilasuso is joining Beyond the Gates for season 2! Soap fans know Vilasuso from his roles as Tony Santos on Guiding Light, Rey Rosales on The Young and the Restless, Griffin Castillo on All My Children, and Dario Hernandez on Days of Our Lives. The man has been on practically every soap, and now he’s bringing his talents to CBS’s newest daytime drama.

Based on the preview, Vilasuso’s mystery character appears to be getting cozy with Ashley Morgan, played by Jen Jacob. Ashley has been through it lately, pulling away from Andre and dumping Derek, so her love life is definitely due for an upgrade. Vilasuso teased on Instagram that he’s “beyond grateful” to work with the cast and that fans should get ready for “a great story to unfold.”

This makes Vilasuso the second major soap alum to join BTG recently, following Greg Vaughan’s arrival as Dr. Kial Rollins. Vaughan, known for his roles on Days of Our Lives and General Hospital, plays a widowed orthopedic surgeon with two grown sons. Fairmont Crest is becoming a who’s who of daytime royalty!

Dani Has a “Sexy Genie” and We Have Questions

Newlyweds Dani Dupree and Andre Richardson are clearly enjoying married life, because Dani calls her husband a “sexy genie who grants all her wishes” in the preview. In the bedroom anyway! These two have been through so much drama getting together, so it’s nice to see them finally happy and, um, very satisfied.

Meanwhile, Martin Richardson and Smitty are also keeping the heat turned up with what the preview calls “clothing-optional playtime.” The newlyweds are clearly making the most of married life! And Ted and Shanice continue getting their flirt on, which means that slow-burn romance is finally catching fire.

Leslie Gets Her Hands on Marcel’s Gun

In news that has us genuinely concerned, Leslie Thomas and Marcel end up in bed together AND he lets her take ahold of his gun. Sir. SIR. Is that wise? Spoiler alert: No. It is not wise. Not on any level.

Leslie has been through a lot, and giving her access to a weapon feels like a recipe for disaster. Whatever is going on between her and Marcel is clearly heating up, but the gun situation adds a dangerous edge to this romance. Someone is going to get hurt, and we’re betting it’s not going to be an accident.

Anita Refuses to Let Cancer Win

Despite her devastating triple-negative breast cancer diagnosis, Anita Dupree is determined to live it up in season 2. Tamara Tunie has been bringing incredible depth to this storyline, and watching Anita refuse to let her prognosis define her is going to be powerful television.

The Dupree family is still reeling from the news, with Nicole, Dani, and now the grandchildren all learning about Anita’s diagnosis. But Anita herself is choosing to embrace life rather than wallow in fear. Season 2 will continue exploring how this family handles the cancer journey together, with more emphasis on human-interest storylines alongside all the romance and action.

Season 2 of Beyond the Gates premieres Friday, January 2 on CBS. Get ready, Fairmont Crest fans. It’s about to get WILD!
