The powers that be at CBS cannot decide if Beyond the Gates is ultimately “The Leslie Thomas Show” or the “Everyone Hates Kat” show. BTG fans have about had it with all the Leslie on this new soap opera, but now it’s a competition of fans who hate Leslie versus characters on this soap opera who hate Kat Richardson.
So, seriously, why does everyone hate Kat Richardson on Beyond the Gates?
Everyone hates Kat (Colby Muhammad) on Beyond the Gates, and soap opera fans are upset. Kat has known since day freaking number one that Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle) was bad news. She didn’t know, however, that Eva would turn out to be her half-sister, created by an affair her beloved dad, Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson), had with Leslie/Dana Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) when her mother, Dr. Nicole Dupree (Daphnée Duplaix), was having trouble getting pregnant with Kat.
Kat has all and more proven that Miss Eva is up to no good and is basically Loony-Leslie Jr. Yet, her not-so-beloved dad Ted and even her supposedly mentally astute mother have not acknowledged that she was right. Ted defending his new daughter out of nowhere seems at least a little reasonable, but what about Nicole? How?? Also, what about Kat’s brother, Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon)? Yes, Kat accidentally overshared about sex in front of Martin’s teenage daughter, but Martin killed someone… So there’s that.

Even Kat’s BFF/Cousin/Business Partner, Chelsea Hamilton (RhonniRose Mantilla), has been ghosting her. Chelsea isn’t all in on the hate for Kat like her immediate family, but she really isn’t helping either. At least Chelsea hasn’t friended Eva. That would just put the most disgusting old-ass frosting on Kat’s dried-out cake.
Seriously, though, Chelsea is spending time with her girlfriend and her girlfriend’s mother’s home on Thanksgiving… A vegan Thanksgiving at that. Also, Chelsea’s girlfriend doesn’t even get along with her mother. Now, Kat is stuck with recovering-penis-break-guy, Tomas Navarro (Alex Alegria). Why aren’t these Duprees watching out for Duprees on Beyond the Gates?

That’s partner at Bill Hamilton’s (Timon Kyle Durrett) law firm, not a partner in life with Kat without a promotion. Seriously, is there anyone on Beyond the Gates who adores Kat Richardson?
If not, this soap opera is seriously on the brink of being renamed “Everyone Hates Kat” on CBS.
