DAYS OF OUR LIVES HAS A BORING LOVE TRIANGLE PROBLEM AND FANS ARE FED UP

TL;DR: Days of Our Lives fans are begging the writers to shake up the snooze-fest that is the Brady, Sarah, and Xander love triangle. They kissed, Xander fired Brady, and now… nothing? With major cast firings already happening, the show needs to make the most of who’s left.

This Love Triangle Started Hot and Then Fizzled

Remember when Brady Black and Sarah Horton shared that New Year’s Eve kiss and everyone thought things were finally getting interesting? Remember when Xander Cook went absolutely nuclear and fired Brady from Titan out of pure jealousy?

That was supposed to be the beginning of an explosive love triangle. Instead, it’s been weeks of absolutely nothing happening. Brady and Sarah are living under the same roof at the Kiriakis mansion, supposedly exploring their connection, and viewers are watching paint dry. The Days of Our Lives writers built up all this tension and then just… stopped.

The Writers Know Where This Is Going and So Do We

Here’s the problem with the Brady and Sarah pairing. Everyone, including the writers themselves, have made it abundantly clear that this relationship is temporary. Co-head writers Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford told TV Insider that while Sarah and Brady explore their connection, Xander is trying to move on. They also mentioned that Sarah still has lingering feelings for her ex.

Translation? Brady and Sarah are just a speed bump on the road back to Xander and Sarah reunion number four. Or five. Honestly, we’ve lost count.

Spoilers suggest that Brady Black will propose to Sarah in the spring. She’ll reportedly turn him down because she realizes she’s still in love with Xander. Then Brady gets his heart broken AGAIN while Sarah runs back to the guy who hired a henchman to drug Brady, tried to beat him with a baseball bat, and fired him from his job for daring to kiss his ex-wife.

Why should viewers invest in Brady and Sarah when the show has already telegraphed that they’re doomed? Why should we care about their tender moments when we know the endgame involves Xander and Sarah riding off into the sunset again?

Meanwhile, Xander Is About to Hook Up With Gwen

While Brady and Sarah are having the world’s most boring slow-burn romance, Xander Cook is apparently going to fall into bed with Gwen Rizczech. The winter promo showed them getting hot and heavy.

So let’s get this straight. Xander fired Brady for kissing his ex-wife, but then Xander is going to sleep with Dimitri’s current wife? The hypocrisy is absolutely staggering. And somehow this is the guy Sarah is supposed to realize she truly loves?

The leakers say Gwen is going to end up heartbroken because Xander and Sarah start reconciling in the spring. Which means Gwen is a placeholder. Nobody in this love quadrangle actually matters except for the Xander and Sarah endgame.

The Show Just Fired Four Actors and This Is What We Get?

Here’s what makes this boring love triangle even more frustrating. Days of Our Lives just announced that Carson Boatman, Raven Bowens, Ashley Puzemis, and Leo Howard are all leaving. That’s Johnny, Chanel, Holly, and Tate gone.

The show is losing major players from its younger generation, and THIS is how they’re using the actors who remain? Brady Black deserves better than being the obvious placeholder boyfriend before Sarah inevitably goes back to Xander. Sarah deserves better than being written as a woman who keeps returning to a man with violent tendencies. And Xander deserves better than being portrayed as an abusive, jealous ex who somehow gets rewarded with his true love anyway.

What This Love Triangle Actually Needs

You want to make this storyline interesting? Here’s a thought. Let Brady and Sarah actually be a real couple with a real future. Stop telegraphing that they’re temporary. Give them obstacles that aren’t just Xander throwing tantrums and Rachel trying to poison people.

Or better yet, let Sarah choose neither of them. Let her focus on being a doctor and a mother instead of bouncing between men who keep disappointing her. Revolutionary concept, we know.

The current approach of having everyone talk about their feelings while nothing actually happens is not working. Viewers are bored. The love triangle that was supposed to heat up February sweeps has gone ice cold. And the writers need to either commit to making Brady and Sarah a legitimate couple or just fast forward to the inevitable Xander reunion so we can all move on with our lives.
