THIS WEEK’S COMINGS AND GOINGS ARE FIRE!

TL;DR: Jack Deveraux is back in Salem after months away, Mean Girls alum Jonathan Bennett debuts on General Hospital as new Port Charles cop Joe Fitzpatrick, and Vivica A. Fox returns to The Young and the Restless as Dr. Stephanie Simmons. The rotating door across daytime is wide open this week.

Days of Our Lives: Jack Deveraux Comes Home and the Choi Patriarch Settles In

After a few months off the Salem canvas, Matthew Ashford returns as Jack Deveraux on Friday, May 22. Jack reaches out to his daughter, Emily O’Brien‘s Gwen, in scenes that should put every longtime Days of Our Lives fan right in their feelings. The complicated bond between Jack Deveraux and Gwen has been one of the most quietly devastating father-daughter dynamics on the canvas, and any outreach from Jack Deveraux is never a small moment. Ashford last appeared in February, and the timing of Jack’s return lands at the perfect end-of-week emotional beat for the storyline.

The Choi family also continues to expand its presence in Salem. Stephen OYoung made his debut last week as Jason Choi, the long-discussed father of Rachel Boyd‘s Sophia Choi, and the Salem patriarch is settling onto the canvas. The Choi family canvas has added one of the most accomplished new performers daytime has welcomed in a while. OYoung brings serious credits with him, including roles in the most recent Mission Impossible film, The Wrecking Crew, and Twisters.

And on Monday, May 18, Angelica Nero pops in as Victoria Kiriakis. The tyke shares scenes with her TV mom, Linsey Godfrey‘s Sarah, in what should be a sweet little moment in the middle of an otherwise heavy week in Salem.

General Hospital: Mean Girls Alum Jonathan Bennett Debuts as a New Port Charles Cop

The biggest Port Charles debut of the week belongs to Jonathan Bennett, who steps onto the canvas Monday, May 18, as Joe Fitzpatrick, a new cop on the Port Charles beat. The actor most famous as Aaron Samuels in the 2004 pop culture juggernaut Mean Girls is actually returning to his daytime roots. Bennett previously played JR Chandler on All My Children from 2001 to 2002 at age 19.

In addition to Mean Girls and AMC, Bennett’s resume runs through Cheaper by the Dozen 2, the Hallmark Groomsmen trilogy as Danny, Broadway’s Spamalot as Sir Robin, and host gigs on Cake Wars, Cupcake Wars, and Halloween Wars. Port Charles is in for an arresting good time.

Also popping in this week: John J. York as Mac Scorpio. He airs Monday, May 18, in scenes with Genie Francis‘s Laura and Dominic Zamprogna‘s Dante. Mac in the middle of whatever Laura and Dante are cooking up is exactly the chaos we live for, especially with Genie Francis carrying so much story weight on her shoulders right now.

The Young and the Restless: Vivica A. Fox Is Back and Mariah Copeland Resurfaces

Genoa City finally gets its Vivica back. Vivica A. Fox returns as Dr. Stephanie Simmons, the doctor overseeing Shemar Moore‘s Malcolm Winters and his bone marrow transplant. Stephanie resurfaces in New York on Thursday, May 21, when Christel Khalil‘s Lily and Nathan Owens‘s Holden pay her a visit. With Malcolm’s situation as fragile as it has been, every Stephanie scene matters. The trip to New York means real movement on the transplant story, and Lily’s stake in this has been building for months.

The missing-in-action Camryn Grimes is also back as Mariah Copeland this week. The character receives a surprise visit from Bryton James‘s Devon, and given the emotional landmines all over the Winters family right now, this is not going to be a small conversation.

Rounding out the Genoa City week, Marcy Goldman appears as a hotel maid on Thursday, May 21, sharing scenes with Roger Howarth‘s Matt and Stacy Haiduk‘s Patty. Wherever those two are, a hotel maid is going to walk in on something she did not sign up for.

The Bold and the Beautiful: Charlie Webber Returns and the Finnegans Get a Hayes Visit

After a lengthy absence, Dick Christie returns as Charlie Webber, the Forrester Creations head of security, on Monday, May 18, and Tuesday, May 19. Charlie back on the job means the Forrester building is finally being guarded by someone who takes his lanyard seriously.

Bryan David Garlick is also on hand this week as Hayes Finnegan, sharing scenes with his TV parents, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood‘s Steffy and Tanner Novlan‘s Finn, on Monday, May 18.

And Alexis Gaube returns as Petra, the Forrester model, on Wednesday, May 20.

A devoted Days of Our Lives stan and Beyond the Gates enthusiast, Ashley watches all five soaps religiously — yes, even when her cats are demanding attention, which is always. When she’s not dissecting Salem’s latest scandal or theorizing about what the Duprees are up to now, Ashley can be found curled up with a cozy book, knitting something she’ll probably never finish, and being an unapologetic stay-at-home cat mom. Her feline overlords have yet to develop an interest in daytime drama, but she’s working on it.Let the record show: Ashley is Brandon Barash’s biggest fan. She will not be taking questions or debate on this matter. The man is a treasure, and she has the tweets to prove her dedication.
